The Effects of Coronavirus (Covid-19) on E-Commerce

Abstract

First emerging in China's Wuhan city coronavirus (Covidien pandemic-19), followed by Turkey with many countries in the world 'it has also started to be seen. After the epidemic started spreading to the world and the process got worse, the coronavirus caused panic among the people after the proclamation of the pandemic (epidemic and infectious disease). As with everything else, e-commerce or online shopping started. People have increased the volume of the products they have started to purchase during the quarantine process as they increase in this panic. Instead of their parents or relatives who do not know how to shop online or cannot use e-commerce, they started to shop online and send them to their addresses. It has been observed that the sales volume of many products exceeding 300%. While spending time at home, video sites have become more popular. All these reasons mobilized businesses and increased their different e-commerce applications by differentiating them. Even if local markets do not set up a web site, Instagram etc. They started to take orders via media or by sharing their phone numbers on social media and made a quick transition to online shopping. Unfortunately, opportunists have also emerged who want to sell products at higher prices than their normal prices. The purpose of this study is to raise awareness about the developments experienced in the coronavirus (Covid-19) process and an estimate of where the impact on e-commerce can come in this process, and expectations. In addition, in the periods when these and similar global epidemics or problems are experienced, the behavior of producers and consumers is examined and a forward-looking perspective is tried to be determined. Opinions and suggestions about the effects of coronavirus epidemic and potential changes to commercial life are included.
