Assessment of isolation information in the last grade students of the faculty of medicine

Year 2018, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 50 - 55, 30.06.2018

Abstract

Isolation
measures are very important for the health of both patients and health care
workers. In this study, we aimed to determine the knowledge level of physician
candidates by measuring the knowledge of infection control methods categorized
by CDC according to standard and transmission pathway in last grade medical
students. The study was carried out on a questionnaire consisting of different
questions about isolation and hygiene procedure. The questionnaire was applied
to the medical students studying in the last class in different provinces of
Turkey. The people involved in the study were reached through closed Facebook
groups and through the WhatsApp application through the intermediaries in the
universities. The survey questions were requested to be answered. The correct
response rate to hand hygiene practice was good (59%), while the need for more
education was remarkable for the application of droplet isolation measures (9%)
or the isolation of meningococcal patients (19%). The level of knowledge about
the use of glasses, galoshes, infection pathways, isolation methods and the
order of removal of personal protective equipment was not sufficient. Levels of
information about handwashing indications and glove use by sixth graders of the
medical faculty were found satisfactory. However, physician candidates need to
increase their knowledge of isolation or use of protective equipment. As a
result, it was thought that infection control measures should be explained more
intensively in medical subjects

Tıp fakültesi son sınıf öğrencilerinde izolasyon önlemleri konusunda bilgi ve tutumlarının değerlendirilmesi

Year 2018, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 50 - 55, 30.06.2018
https://doi.org/10.26453/otjhs.381881

Abstract

Veriler, altı seçenekli on soruluk bir
