Hemşirelik Öğrencilerinin Gözünden Kadına Yönelik Şiddet: Metafor Çalışması

Objective: The aim of this study is to determine how nursing students perceive the concept of violence against women through metaphors. Method: The population of the research consisted of nursing students studying in the 2023-2024 fall semester of a nursing faculty. No sample selection was made in the research, and 199 students who agreed to participate in the research were included. A semi-structured metaphor form was used to collect data. Students' "Violence against women, …… is like/similar. Because .…." They were asked to complete the sentence. Data was collected face to face. The data of 6 students who had inconsistencies between the metaphor and the explanation on which the metaphor was based were excluded from the study. The research was completed with 193 students. Results: It was determined that the students produced 45 different metaphors regarding the concept of violence against women. Among the metaphors most used by nursing students, "crime against humanity, plucking the flower from its branch, collapse/destruction of society and helplessness" are included. These metaphors were grouped into 4 categories. These categories: The characteristic of the person who uses violence is disruption of social order, the lethal effect of violence and inhumane behavior. Conclusion: The metaphors created by the nursing students participating in the study were: violence against women; It is related to the characteristics of the person who uses violence, it affects not only the woman but also the society, it has a lethal effect and is perceived as an inhumane behavior.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin gözünden kadına yönelik şiddet kavramını nasıl algıladığını metaforlar aracılığı ile belirlemektir. Yöntem: Araştırmanın evrenini, bir hemşirelik fakültesinin 2023-2024 güz döneminde öğrenim gören hemşirelik öğrencileri oluşturdu. Araştırmada örneklem seçimine gidilmeyip, araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 199 öğrenci alındı. Verilerin toplanmasında yarı yapılandırılmış metafor formu kullanıldı. Öğrencilerin “Kadına yönelik şiddet, ………. gibidir/benzer. Çünkü .……….” cümlesini tamamlamaları istendi. Veriler, yüz yüze toplandı. Metafor ile metaforun dayandırıldığı açıklama arasında tutarsızlık olan 6 öğrencinin verisi araştırmadan çıkarıldı. Araştırma, 193 öğrenci ile tamamlandı. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin, kadına yönelik şiddet kavramına ilişkin 45 farklı metafor ürettiği belirlendi. Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin en çok kullandıkları metaforlar arasında; “insanlığa yönelik suç, çiçeği dalından koparmak, toplumun çöküşü/ yok olması ve aciz bir insan” yer almaktadır. Bu metaforlar 4 kategoride toplandı. Bu kategoriler; şiddet uygulayan kişinin özelliği, toplum düzenini bozma, şiddetin öldürücü etkisi ve insanlık dışı kötü davranıştır. Sonuç: Çalışmaya katılan hemşirelik öğrencilerinin oluşturdukları metaforlar, kadına yönelik şiddetin; şiddet uygulayan kişinin özelliği ile ilgili olduğu, bunun sadece kadını değil toplumu etkilediği, öldürücü etkisinin olduğu ve insanlık dışı kötü bir davranış olarak algılandığı yönündedir.
