Abstract

Abstract

Objective: This study was designed to determine the COVID-19 fear and the quality of work life of nurses.
Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with nurses (n: 106) in a public hospital between January 18 and February 1, 2022. The data of the study were collected with the "Descriptive Information Form", "COVID-19 Fear Scale", Quality of Nursing Work Life Survey (QNWL).
Results: The mean score of the COVID-19 Fear Scale was found to be 19.00±6.20, and the mean score of the QNWL was found to be 109.12±16.67. The mean scores of QNWL sub-dimensions were as follow; work/working environment 26.02±5.48, relations with managers 18.43±4.08, work conditions 25.94±5.66, job perception 25.72±3.80 and support services sub-dimension mean score 13.01± 3.14. The COVID-19 Fear Scale mean scores of those who were not diagnosed with COVID-19 were statistically significantly higher than those who were diagnosed with COVID-19 (p<0.05). In addition, the mean score of the COVID-19 Fear Scale of those who had the COVID-19 vaccine was found to be statistically significantly higher than those who did not (p<0.05). The mean score of the total QNWL, relations with managers and working conditions sub-dimension scores of those who received the COVID-19 treatment at the hospital were statistically significantly higher than those who received the COVID-19 treatment at home (p<0.05).
Conclusion: It has been determined that the fears of COVID-19 and the quality of work life of the nurses were at a moderate level and they were influencing factors. It is recommended to plan intervention studies.
