Abstract

Objective: The aim of this research is to perform a bibliometric analysis of published academic studies on "physical restraint" in the field of nursing in the Web of Science database.
Methods:
A bibliometric analysis of 229 academic studies conducted between 2013 and 2023 used the keywords “physical restraint”, “mechanical restraint”, and “freedom restraining measures”.
In the analysis conducted using VOS-viewer software, the number of publications by year, their distribution by journals, the most cited studies, the country where the most publications were made, the most frequently used keywords and co-authorship were examined.
Results: It was determined that the highest number of documents belonged to 2022. The highest number of publications was made in Wiley. Muir-Cochrane is the leading researcher with 7 articles and 133 citations. Maastricht University (
the Netherlands?) ranks first among institutions with authors publishing on physical restraint. The country with the most publications and collaborative networks is the United States, and Turkey is also among the top ten countries. The journal with the most publications is the International Journal of Mental Health Nursing, while the most cited journal is the International Journal of Nursing Studies. It was determined that concepts such as restraint, nursing, intensive care, mental health, coercion, and empathy were used the most in the publications.
Conclusion: In this bibliometric analysis, it was determined that studies on physical restraint in the field of nursing have gained momentum, that they are most frequently examined in terms of concepts such as restraint, nursing, intensive care, mental health, coercion, psychiatric nursing, patient safety, and empathy, and that the studies are mostly conducted in the field of nursing.

Fiziksel Kısıtlama Konulu Hemşirelik Çalışmalarının Bibliyometrik Analizi

Year 2025, Volume: 8 Issue: 3, 599 - 610
https://doi.org/10.38108/ouhcd.1516268

Abstract

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, Web of Science veri tabanında, hemşirelik alanında “fiziksel kısıtlama” üzerine yayımlanmış akademik çalışmaların bibliyometrik analizini gerçekleştirmektir.
Türkiye de konu alanında yayın yapan ülkeler sıralamasında ilk on ülke içerisinde yer almaktadır.
