Prof. Hatice BAKKALOĞLU, Ph.D.

Dr. Bakkaloğlu completed her bachelor's degree in Child Development and Education at Gazi University in 1994, her master's degree in Special Education in 1998, and her doctorate in 2004 at Ankara University. She has worked as a research assistant, Lecturer Dr., assistant professor at Ankara University, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Department of Special Education, and has been working as an associate professor since 2015 in the same department. Dr. Bakkaloğlu lectures at undergraduate and graduate levels on early intervention, early childhood special education, pre-school inclusion, and provides consultancy for masters and doctoral dissertations. Dr. Bakkaloğlu has many research studies published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, as well as books, book chapters, and numerous papers presented at national and international congresses, as well as she has worked as a translation editor. In recent years, she has been conducting research on autism spectrum disorder, early childhood transition, outcomes of pre-school inclusion on children and families, peer acceptance of children with special needs, and teacher education. In addition to working as a manager or a researcher in the projects, Dr. Bakkaloğlu has also been working as the editor at Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences Journal of Special Education since 2015 and as the manager at Ankara University Special Education Research and Implementation Center since 2017.

Dr. Ökcün-Akçamuş completed her undergraduate education in Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences Department of Education for the Mentally Handicapped in 2003, her master's degree at Marmara University Educational Sciences Institute Special Education Department in 2009, and her doctorate in Ankara University Institute of Educational Sciences Department of Special Education in 2015. She worked as a teacher at the Ministry of National Education between 2003-2012, then she worked as a lecturer at Ankara University, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Department of Special Education between 2012 and 2018, and has been working as an Associate Professor in the same department since 2020. Her scientific interests include autism spectrum disorder, pre- and post-verbal language development, and communication skills.

Assoc. Prof. Şeyda DEMİR, Ph.D.

Dr. Demir completed her undergraduate studies in the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the Middle East Technical University in 2005, she got her master's degree in 2009 and her doctorate in the same department in 2016 at the Ankara University Institute of Educational Sciences. She has been a research assistant at Ankara University Faculty of Educational Sciences Department of Special Education from 2007 to 2016; since 2018, she has been working as an assistant professor in the same department. Her scientific interests include autism spectrum disorder, social skills teaching, pre-school inclusion, and teacher education. Dr. Demir has also taken part in national projects as a scholar and a researcher.

Dr. Genç-Tosun received her bachelor’s degree in primary school education from Süleyman Demirel University, in 2005. She earned her master’s degree and her Ph.D. in special education from Anadolu University, in 2010 and 2016 respectively. She worked as a research assistant at Anadolu University Disability Research Institute from 2006 to 2017. Most of her professional experience is with children with autism, ages 2 to 8 years old. She got a research fellowship from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and carried out studies for her dissertation at Texas A&M University as a visiting scholar. Dr. Genç-Tosun has been working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Special Education, Osmangazi University, Turkey since 2017. Her research interests include education of individuals with autism spectrum disorder, augmentative and alternative communication systems, evidence-based practices, and applied behavior analysis.

Assist. Prof. Gülden BOZKUŞ-GENÇ, Ph.D.

Dr. Bozkuş-Genç graduated from Anadolu University Department of Special Education Hearing Impaired Teaching Program with first place in 2008. And the same year, she received a minor certificate from the Program in Teacher of the Mentally Disabled. She worked as a special education teacher in a foundation school between the years of 2008-2012. In 2017, she received her Ph.D. from Anadolu University Department of Special Education Program in Education of the Mentally Disabled. She worked as a research assistant in the same department between the years of 2012-2018, and she received the academic degree of assistant professor in 2018. In 2019, she started to work as the co-head in the same department and still continues to work as an assistant professor in the same department. Her scientific fields of study include evidence-based practices, autism spectrum disorders, effective teaching methods, pivotal response treatments, teaching social and communication skills to children with autism spectrum disorder, special education in early childhood, single-subject designs, and qualitative methods. She has articles published in scientific journals, book chapters, completed projects, and numerous proceedings presented at national and international congresses.

Assoc. Prof. Seray OLÇAY, Ph.D.

Dr. Olçay graduated from the Department of Psychology, Ankara University in 2004. She started the Joint Ph.D. program at the Department of Special Education at Anadolu University in 2005. She worked as a psychologist or a manager at various special education and rehabilitation centers while in the doctoral program. She has had researcher, educator, expert, and scholar roles on various projects: UNICEF, European Union, Scientific Research, TUBITAK, Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services, and received her Ph.D. in 2012. She conducted research as a visiting scholar at the University of North Carolina, Charlotte for six months in 2016. She received her associate’s degree in 2018. Dr. Olçay’s continuing interests are on teaching individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, applied behavior analysis, parent consultation and training, and single-subject research methodology. She has been in the Special Education department at Hacettepe University since 2015. There are many numbers of published papers of hers in various journals worldwide and presentations at different congresses.

Assist. Prof. Çiğdem TIKIROĞLU, Ph.D.

Tıkıroğlu graduated from the Undergraduate Program of Nursing of Pamukkale University in 2002 and from the Undergraduate Program of Preschool Teaching at the same university in 2008. She worked as a nurse at Ege University and Pamukkale University Hospitals between the years 2002-2009. In 2009, she started to work as a research assistant at the Department of Special Education of Pamukkale University. She started her master’s degree education at the Department of Education of the Mentally Disabled at Anadolu University in 2009. At the same university, she started her integrated doctorate education at the Department of Education of the Mentally Disabled in 2011 and completed it in 2019. She has been working as assisted professor at the Department of Special Education of Pamukkale University since 2020. Among her fields of work are naturalistic developmental behavioral interventions, social interaction and peer-mediated interventions in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Dr. Özdemir completed his undergraduate education in the Psychology Department of the Middle East Technical University in 2002 and his graduate education in Education of the Indıvıduals with Intellectual Disability Doctorate Program at the Anadolu University in 2014. Between the years 2004-2009, he worked as a psychologist in state hospitals. He has been working in Marmara University Special Education Department since 2009. His areas of interest are; assessment and training of individuals with autism, the use of technology in special education, and special education ethics. He took part in national and university projects regarding special education. In addition, he has been the author of various scientific articles and book chapters.

Dr. Dayı graduated from Gazi University Special Education Department in 1999. In the same year, she started to work as a lecturer in the Gazi Education Faculty Special Education Department Division of Mental Disabilities Education. She earned her master's degree at Gazi University the Graduate School of Educational Sciences in 2001. She obtained her doctorate degree with her research on Teacher Training at Gazi University the Graduate School of Educational Sciences Division of Mental Disabilities Education in 2009. She got the title of assistant professor in 2012. In the scope of the Gazi University “English Language & Faculty Exchange” program, she received intensive language training for three and a half months at St. Cloud State University in the state of Minnesota, the USA in 2015. Dayı’s main research interests are the education of mentally disabled children, teacher training, applied behavior analysis, and classroom management, and still serves as assistant professor in Gazi University Special Education Department Division of Mental Disabilities Education.

Dr. Yıldız graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Education Elementary Mathematics Teaching Program in 2011. Yıldız, who graduated from Anadolu University Institute of Educational Sciences Special Education Department, the Education of the Mentally Disabled Integrated Doctoral Program in 2020, worked as a research assistant at Anadolu University, Faculty of Education, Department of Special Education between 2013-2020. Dr. Yıldız is currently working as a special education specialist at Anadolu University Social Media and Digital Security Education, Application and Research Center. Her scientific fields of study include individuals with intellectual disabilities, individuals with developmental disabilities, sexual education, adult education, family training, independent life education, vocational training, mathematics education, use of technology in special education, accessible learning material design, and mixed research methods. Dr. Yıldız has book chapters, articles published in national and international scientific journals, completed national and international research projects, and numerous presentations presented in congresses.

Dr. Toper After graduating from the Special Education Department at Anadolu University, in 2002, she completed his master's degree in 2006 and his doctorate in 2015 at the same university and department. After working as a special education between 2002-2012, she started to work as a lecturer in Bursa Uludağ University Special Education Department. Between 2015-2016, she worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in the United States with a post-doctoral research scholarship supported by TUBITAK, and she is still working as a faculty member at Bursa Uludağ University Special Education Department. Her courses include Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavior Management in Individuals with Intellectual Disability, Teaching Basic Skills to Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Single Subject Research, and Functional Evaluation of Problem Behaviors.

Dr. Şahin graduated from Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education, Bachelor of Arts in Mentally Disabled Teacher Education in 2009. Until 2010, she worked as a teacher in special education schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. She completed his master's degree at Anadolu University Graduate School of Educational Sciences, Department of Special Education in 2013, which started in 2010. In the same year, she started doctorate education in the Education of the Mentally Handicapped (Ph.D.) program at Anadolu University and completed doctoral education in 2019. In 2010, she started to work as a research assistant at the Inönü University Special Education Department. As of 2013, she continued to work as a research assistant at Anadolu University on behalf of Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University within the scope of the "Academic Staff Training Program". In 2020, he was appointed as assistant professor to Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University Special Education Department. Among the scientific fields of study; family education, evidence-based practices, single-subject research method, the mixed research method. Dr. Bahap-Kudret holds a BSc degree in Classroom Teaching Education from Hacettepe University, an MSc degree, and a Ph.D. degree in Special Education from Ankara University. Dr. Bahap-Kudret, who has been working at Ankara University, Faculty of Educational Sciences, Department of Special Education since 2007 Bahap has many national and international articles and papers in the field of special education. She has been working on projects as a researcher in the projects supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBİTAK). Her scientific interests include early literacy, reading and writing difficulties, literacy teaching, science teaching, teaching methods, autism spectrum disorder, and legal regulations in special education.

Dr. Kılıç-Tülü graduated from Abant İzzet Baysal University, Department of Primary Education in 2009. She worked as a teacher in a special education institution between the years of 2009-2011. Between the years of 2011-2013, she worked as a full-time fellow in a project supported by TUBITAK. In 2013, she completed his master's degree in Ankara University Special Education Department. In 2014, she started to work as a specialist in Ankara University Special Education Research and Application Center. Since 2018, she has been working as a lecturer at Ankara University Special Education Department. In 2020, she received her PhD from Ankara University, Department of Special Education. Her fields of study include learning disabilities, social skills of children with learning disabilities, theory of mind, early literacy skills, determination of early learning difficulties and reading difficulties. Kılıç-Tülü has articles published in scientific journals, papers presented at national and international congresses and completed projects within this scope.

Dr. Alak received his undergraduate degree from Atatürk University Kazım Karabekir Faculty of Education Department of Primary Education in 2009 and his master's degree from the same university's Educational Sciences Institute, Primary Education Department in 2011. After working as a classroom teacher in Iğdır between 2009 and 2011, the author started to work as a research assistant in the Department of Primary Education, Faculty of Education, Kafkas University in 2011. In the same year, ALAK was awarded a doctorate degree at Ankara University Institute of Educational Sciences, Department of Special Education, and worked as a research assistant at Ankara University, Department of Special Education between 2011-2016. Murat Doğan received his bachelor's degree from Ankara University, Department of Psychology (1997), and his master's degree from the Department of Applied Psychology with his thesis on the psychological state of parents of disabled children (2001). He completed his doctorate in Anadolu University Special Education Department with his thesis on working memory processes of children with hearing loss (2011). Doğan, who teaches undergraduate and graduate courses at Anadolu University Special Education Department, has his practical experience in family and child interviews that he carries out within İÇEM. His academic interests are cognitive processes, families of children with disabilities, emotional-behavioral problems, education of the hearing impaired and methodology.

She completed her master's degree in Audiology and Speech Disorders at Hacettepe University in 2015. She started working as a research assistant in the same year. She started her doctorate education at Ankara University Special Education Department in 2015 and completed her doctorate education in 2021. In 2019, she worked at Ear Science Institute Australia in Western Australia for one year within the scope of Overseas Research Scholarships for Research Assistants scholarship. She has the scientific study areas such as individuals with hearing loss, working memory, language, vocabulary, reading, and reading comprehension. Dr. Demirel-Dingeç graduated from Anadolu University, Faculty of Education, Department of Classroom Teaching in 2006. In 2008, she received his master's degree from Anadolu University Institute of Educational Sciences Teaching Program for the Gifted; she completed her doctorate education in the same program in 2019.Demirel Dingeç, who has been working as an academician at Anadolu University Department of Special Education since 2008, has also been working as a family and social programs coordinator at Anadolu University Gifted Education Research and Application Center since its establishment. She is one of the authors of Turkey's first domestic intelligence scale, Anatolian Sak Intelligence Scale (ASIS). Her academic interests include social-emotional issues in gifted students, their families, and socio-cultural dimensions of giftedness.

Dr. Sengul Avsar received her master's degree in 2011 and her Ph.D. degree in 2015 at Ankara University Department of Measurement and Evaluation Programme in Education. She has been working as an academician at the Faculty of Education at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University since 2012. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Tilburg University in the Netherlands between 2017-2018. Dr. Şengül Avşar teaches measurement and evaluation in education, statistics in social sciences, and data analysis in scientific research. Dr. Şengül Avşar has articles published in international scientific journals, book chapters, completed projects, and papers presented in national and international congresses. Her general research interests are statistical applications in social sciences, measuring student achievement, developing and adapting measurement tools, item response theory models, simulative data production and analysis, and identifying individuals with aberrant item response patterns.

He graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Buca Faculty of Education, English Language Teaching program in 2003. He completed his first master's degree in Department of Educational Administration, and his second master's degree and doctorate in Special Education. Between 2003 and 2011, he worked as a teacher, vice principal, principal and as an expert (in the R&D unit) within the Ministry of National Education. Between 2011 and 2014, he worked as a research assistant at Special Education Departments of Selçuk and Necmettin Erbakan University. He has been working at Kırıkkale University since 2014. Currently, he is working as the department chair and an academician in the Special Education Department at Kırıkkale University. He has scientific studies on Specific Learning Difficulty (Writing Difficulty), School-Wide Positive Behavioral Support, Virtual Reality Practices in the Education of Individuals with Special Needs, Professional Ethics and Professional Competence in Special Education. He has worked as a researcher and coordinator in many national and international projects.

Dr. Kıyak received his bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Ankara University Faculty of Educational Science in 2012 and his master’s and doctoral degrees in Special Education from Anadolu University in 2016 and 2020, respectively. He worked as a research assistant in Faculty of Education and Research Institute for Individuals with Disabilities at Anadolu University between2013 and 2018 and in Faculty of Education at Bursa Uludag University between 2018 and 2021. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Usak University. Dr. Turhan graduated from Uludağ University Department of English Language and Education in 2002. She received her master’s degree from Anadolu University Program in Education of the Mentally Disabled in 2007 and her Ph.D. in the same program in 2015. She worked in schools within the Ministry of National Education in Bursa between 2002-2012. She started as a lecturer in Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Education Department of Special Education in 2012 and received the academic degree of assistant professor in the same program in 2015. She still continues to work as an assistant professor in the same department. Her scientific fields of study include teaching social skills, inclusion, autism spectrum disorders, and teacher training. MSc. Saral graduated from the Department of English Language Teaching, Anadolu University in 2012. He received his master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis for Autism at Anadolu University with his thesis on “Teaching Pretend Play Skills to Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder” in 2017. Then, he started Ph.D. program at the Department of Special Education at the same university. He is one of the founding members of the Association of Applied Behavior Analysis (UDADER) in Turkey that aims to support the growth of applied behavior analysis. Saral has been working as a research assistant at the Special Education department at Hacettepe University. His primary line of inquiry focuses on teaching individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, applied behavior analysis, evidence-based practices, and play skills.

Genç graduated from Karadeniz Technical University, Department of Special Education, Hearing Impaired Teaching Program in 2012. Genç received her master's degree from Anadolu University Institute of Educational Sciences Special Education Department, the Education of the Hearing Impaired in 2016 and is still continuing her doctorate education, which she started in the same year. Since 2013, she has been working as a research assistant at Anadolu University on behalf of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. Her research interests include language and communication skills, measurement and evaluation of language and communication skills in children with hearing loss and qualitative research methods. Genç has articles published in scientific journals and papers presented in national and international congresses.

Akkuş completed Atatürk University Child Development associate degree program in 2018. She completed Ankara University Mentally Handicapped Teaching undergraduate program in 2019, and preschool teacher double major program in 2020. Between June and September 2019, she worked as a special education teacher in a private institution. In 2019, he started Ankara University Special Education graduate program. He has been working as a research assistant in the Department of Education of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders at Hacettepe University since February 2020. She is currently continuing her graduate education in the Education of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders graduate program at Hacettepe University. Among her scientific research areas are autism spectrum disorder, early childhood education, early intervention programs.
