İLK HALKA ARZDA UYGULANAN YÖNTEMLERİN KAZANÇ VE KAYIP ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ

Abstract

Amaç- Bir ülkede halka açık şirketlerin nitelik ve niceliği sermayesi piyasaları için gelişmişlik düzeyi belirleyicilerindendir. Bu çalışmanın amacı halka arzda uygulanan yöntemlerin kazanan ve kaybedenler ayrımına göre gruplar arasında farklılığa yol açıp açmadığını analiz etmektir. Yöntem- Halka arz sonrası ilk işlem günü ilk ay ve ilk yıl için mutlak getiriye göre yöntemlerin kazanan ve kaybedenlerin grupları arasındaki farklılık Mann Whitney-U veya Kruskal Wallis-H testi ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Bulgular- Kazanan ve kaybedenlerin tek tek içinde farklılığına bakıldığında sadece talep yönteminin kaybedenler içinde bir etkisi olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca Chi2 test sonucuna göre sadece mutlak getiride satış yönteminde anlamlı bir farklılığın olduğu, fiyat toplama yöntemleri ve halka arz yöntemi açısından bir farklılığın olduğuna dair bulgu elde edilememiştir. Sonuç- İhraçta uygulanacak halka arz, fiyat toplama, satış ve fiyat yöntemlerinin yatırımcının kazanma ve kaybetmesi üzerinde fark edilir bir belirleyici olmaması nedeniyle yatırımcının halka arz izahnamesini incelerken şirketin yatırım yapılabilir özelliklere sahip olup olmadığına dair finansal bilgileri özenle incelemesi gerekmektedir.

IMPACT OF INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING METHODS ON LOSS AND GAIN

Abstract

Purpose-The quality of publicly traded companies in a country are among the determinants of the level of development for capital markets. This study analyzes whether the methods applied in the initial public offers cause a difference between the groups according to the winner and loser distinction or not. Methodology- The difference between the groups of winners and losers of the methods according to the absolute return for the first trading day after the IPO, for the first month and the first year, was compared with the Mann Whitney-U or Kruskal Wallis-H test. Findings- When the difference between winners and losers is examined one by one, it is seen that only the demand method affects only the losers. In addition, according to the Chi2 test result, there were only findings that there was a significant difference only in absolute return in sales method. Conclusion- The methods applied in the IPO don't have a noticeable determinant on the gain or loss of the investor. The investor should examine the financial information with caution regarding whether the company has an investment grade feature in the IPO prospectus
