DENİZLİ-KARAHAYIT BÖLGESİNDEKİ EUCALYPTUS CAMALDULENSİS AĞAÇLARINDAN CRYPTOCOCCUS NEOFORMANS VARLIĞININ ARAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract

Basidiomiçetlerden kapsüllü bir maya olan Cryptococcus neoformans çoğunlukla immünsistemibaskılanmış hastalarda (transplant alıcılarında, radyoterapi, kemoterapi ve immünsüpresif tedavigörenlerde, immün yetmezlik yaratan hastalığı olanlar gibi) primer infeksiyon etkenidir. Eucalyptusspp ağaçları sıklıkla kolonize olduğu flora elemanlarıdır. Bu çalışmada, Denizli’de turistikKarahayıt kasabasındaki Eucalyptus camaldulensis florasında insan patojeni C.neoformans varlığının aranması hedeflenmiştir. Karahayıt kasabasında bulunan 37 E.camaldulensis ağacındaneküvyonla örnekleme tekniği ile 117 örnek alındı. Kültür için Staib agar besiyeri kullanıldı. Sonuçolarak, yoğun örnekleme metodu uygulanmasına rağmen Karahayıt bölgesinde insan patojeniC.neoformans’ın kolonize olduğu E.camaldulensis ağacı bulunamamıştır. Yoğun nüfusa sahip ve turizmin önemli olduğu bölgelerde çevresel insan patojeni mayaların varlığının taranması koruyucuhekimlik açısından önemlidir.

SCREENING OF CRYPTOCOCCUS NEOFORMANS FROM EUCALYPTUS CAMALDULENSIS TREES IN DENIZLI-KARAHAYIT REGION

Abstract

Cryptococcus neoformans, an encapsulated basidiomyceteus yeast, causes diseases primarilyimmunocomprimised individuals such as transplant recipients, patients with immundeficiency disorders, and patients undergoing chemo-, radio- and immunsupressive therapy. Eucalyptus spp is the major environmental host of the yeast. In aim of the study is to screening of human-pathogen C.neoformans presence from Eucalyptus camaldulesis trees in touristical Karahayıt region in Denizli. By swap sampling technique, 117 samples from 37 trees were collected. All samples have cultured on Staib agar. In result, no C.neoformans has been cultured from sampledE.camaldulensis despite the excessive screening methods. Environmental human-pathogen yeast screenning procedures are important for preventive medicine especially for tourism centers and densely populated regions.
