Isolated left ventricular hypertrabeculation associated with coronary artery disease

Abstract

Isolated left ventricular hypertrabeculation (myocardial noncompaction) is a rarely seen cardiomyopathy characterized by deep trabecular structures anatomically located in the ventricular wall. While patients may be asymptomatic, hypertrabeculation may cause heart failure, rhythm disturbances, and embolic events. It is generally diagnosed by autopsy. However, in patients diagnosed early with imaging studies complications couldbe prevented or treated. In this report, we present a case with isolated left ventricular hypertrabeculation, which was diagnosed by echocardiography during the work up for coronary artery by pass surgery.
