Investigation of Career Search Self-efficacy in Terms of Various Variables

Abstract

The term of career search
self-efficacy is quite new to the national literature. Career
search self-efficacy is defined as the ability to participate in work activities
successfully, to contact with people in the business, to act according to abilities
and values. The purpose of present study is to examine whether career
self-efficacy is significantly different according to gender, grade level,
whether to get vocational counseling
during university entrance, whether to making
career plan or not, and whether to participation in supporting career
development activities. The research was designed with the screening
model. The research group is
consisted of 1278 (786 female - %61.5) university students. Career Search
Self-efficacy Scale and personal information form were used. The data of the study were analyzed by t-test and one-way analysis of variance. According to the results, it was
determined that career search self-efficacy did not show any significant
difference according to gender and grade level. It was also found that there was a significant
difference between career search self-efficacy whether to get vocational counseling during university entrance, whether to
make a career plan or not, and whether to participation in promoting career
development activities.

Kariyer Araştırma Öz-yeterliğinin Çeşitli Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract

Kariyer
araştırma öz-yeterliği kavramı ulusal alan yazını için oldukça yenidir. Kariyer
araştırma öz-yeterliği bireyin mesleğinde başarılı işlerde yer alabilmesi,
çeşitli iş ve meslek bağlantıları kurabilmesi, kendi yetenek ve değerlerine
göre hareket edebilmesidir. Bu araştırmanın amacı kariyer araştırma
öz-yeterliğinin cinsiyete, sınıf düzeyine, tercih danışmanlığı alıp almama,
kariyer planı yapmış olup olmama ve kariyer gelişimini destekleyici
etkinliklere katılıp katılmama durumuna göre anlamlı bir farklılık gösterip
göstermediğini incelemektir. Araştırma tarama modeline uygun olarak
tasarlanmıştır. Araştırma grubu 1278 (786 kız - %61.5) üniversite öğrencisinden
oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada Kariyer Araştırma Öz-yeterliği Ölçeği ile kişisel
bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın
verileri t-testi ve tek yönlü varyans
analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre, üniversite
öğrencilerinin kariyer araştırma öz-yeterlikleri tercih danışmanlığı alıp
almadıklarına, kariyer planı yapmış olup olmadıklarına, kariyer gelişimini
destekleyici etkinliklere katılıp katılmadıklarına göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermektedir.
Ayrıca üniversite öğrencilerinin kariyer araştırma öz-yeterlikleri cinsiyete ve
sınıf düzeyine göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir.
