Abstract
The preseni study investigated the level of loneliness as measured by UÇLA Loneliness Scale and, its relationship to department, year at. the university, sex, type of accomodation, place ofliving and the level of satisfaction. from social contacts among the Pamukkale University (PAU) students. For this purpose, the UÇLA Loneliness Scale scores of the students were analyzed in relation to the above factors. A total of 482 students (270 female, 212 male) from randomly selected departments of four faculties of PA U participated in the study. The results showed that the incidence of loneliness among Ih e students was 15.5 percent. The results also indicated that the level of loneliness in social sciences students w as high than that of the technical and applied sciences students. The freshman students \vere mor e alone than the foıırth year students. More, the students who have low satisfaction from social contacts showed high level of loneliness than the others. Ihıl a signifıcant relationship did not exist belM'een loneliness and type of accomodation, sex and place of and place ofliving.
Abstract
Bu araştırma Pamukkale Üniversitesi öğrencilerinde yalnızlık düzeyini ölçmek (UÇLA Yalnızlık Ölçeği kullanılarak) bunun bölüm, sınıf, cinsiyet, barınma türü, öğrencinin geldiği yerleşim birimi ve sosyal ilişkilerinden aldığı, doyum düzeyi ile ilişkisini saptamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda elde edilen UÇLA Yalnızlık Ölçeği puanları ile yukarıdaki değişkenlere ait bilgiler analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmaya seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak, dört fakültenin farklı bölümlerinden 270'i kız, 212'si erkek olmak üzere 482 öğrenci katılmıştır. Sonuçlar örneklemin %15.5 'inde yüksek düzeyde yalnızlık yaşandığını ve sosyal bilimlerde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin yalnızlık düzeyinin fen ve teknik hilim/erdekilerden daha yüksek olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, yalnızlığın birinci sınıftan son sınıfa doğru düştüğü ve sosyal ilişkilerinden az doyum aldığını belirten öğrencilerde daha yüksek olduğu da hulgulanmıştır. Fakat yalnızlık ile barınma türü, cinsiyet ve gelinen yerleşim birimi arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmamıştır.
