YEŞİL EKONOMİ KAPSAMINDA TÜRK CUMHURİYETLERİNDE ÇEVRESEL KUZNETS HİPOTEZİNİN TESTİ

Abstract

İklim değişikliği konusunda dünya genelinde tedirginliğin yükselmekte olduğu günümüzde sürdürülebilir büyüme ve yeşil ekonomi giderek önemini arttırmaktadır. Doğayı kirletmeden ve gelecek nesillerin kaynaklarını tüketmeden sürdürülebilir büyüme için yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarının arttırılması ve fosil yakıt açısından zengin olan ülkelerin bu kaynakları daha rasyonel kullanımı önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışma seçilmiş Orta Asya Türk Cumhuriyetlerinin 1992-2020 dönemi boyunca panel veri yöntemi kullanılarak Çevresel Kuznets eğrisinin (ÇKE) geçerliliğini ve yeşil ekonomi boyutunu incelemektedir. Analizde kullanılan değişkenler, karbon emisyonu, kişi başına düşen reel gayri safi yurt içi hasıla (KBGSYİH) ve karesi, enerji, nüfus, dışa açıklık, üretimin katma değeri ile insani gelişme endekslerini içermektedir. İlgi değişkenlerinin kapsamlı olması bu çalışmayı diğer benzer çalışmalardan ayırmaktadır. Buna ek olarak seçilen ülke grubunun verisinin az olması ve fazla çalışılmamış bir alan olması nedeniyle devam eden literatüre katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre seçilen bölgede Çevresel Kuznets Hipotezi doğrulanmıştır. Bu durumda çevre kirliliğinin azaltılabilmesi için, etkili çevre politikası ve temiz enerji kullanımı ile ekonomik büyümenin gerekli olduğu söylenebilir.

TESTING THE ENVIRONMENTAL KUZNETS HYPOTHESIS IN THE TURKISH REPUBLICS WITHIN THE SCOPE OF GREEN ECONOMY

Abstract

Sustainable growth and green economy are becoming increasingly important in today's world where there is a growing concern about climate change. For sustainable growth without polluting nature and consuming the resources of future generations, it is important to increase renewable energy resources and for countries rich in fossil fuels to use these resources more rationally. This study examines the validity of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) and the green economy aspect of selected Central Asian Turkic republics over the period 1992-2020 using the panel data method. The variables used in the analysis include carbon emissions, real gross domestic product per capita and its square, energy, population, openness to foreign trade, value added of production, and human development indices. The comprehensiveness of the variables of interest distinguishes this study from other similar studies. In addition, it is thought that the selected country group will contribute to the current literature since it is an area that has not been studied much due to data shortage. According to the findings, the Environmental Kuznets Hypothesis is confirmed in the selected region. In this case, it can be said that in order to reduce environmental pollution, effective environmental policy, clean energy use, and economic growth are necessary.
