HISTORY OF DENIZLI STATE HOSPİTAL
Abstract
The first attempts to build a hospital in Denizli began in 1913 under the leadership of Ahmet Hulusi Efendi. The first hospital in Denizli was established in 1919. The first name of the Hospital was Millet Hospital. The head of medical staff was Dr. Giritli Kerim. There were 50 beds at the beginning, and then 25 more beds had been added between the years 1924- 1927. The Hospital was visited by Atatürk, the first president of Turkish Republic, in 1933. In 1950; the name of the hospital was changed as “Denizli State Hospital”. New Hospital buildings which had 400 beds were built in 1972. Today Denizli State Hospital has 800 beds and it is one of biggest hospitals in the Aegean area.
