EVALUATION OF ERBAKAN’S PRESIDENTIAL PROCESS AT THE UNION OF CHAMBERS AND COMMODITY EXCHANGES OF TURKEY (TOBB) IN TERMS OT TOBB-POLITICS RELATIONS

Abstract

When we study the relationship between the right-wing parties in Turkey and the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, it is clearly seen that the Democratic Party and the Justice Part are in control of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges. From 1965, when the Justice Party came into power on its own, to 27th May 1979, when Mehmet Yazar became the head of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges, the list of the executive board concerning the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges was decided by the Justice party except Erbakan’s presidency of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges. In spite of the government’s decision of having the election postponed, it was held on 24th May 1969 at the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges. Necmettin Erbakan was elected the head of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges. After Erbakan had been elected, the government revoked some rights of using quota which were previously carried out by the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges. Erbakan was suspended from the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges under police surveillance by the command of the Governorship of Ankara. Erbakan, whose candidacy in the Justice Party was not accepted for the election that would be held on 12th September 1969, entered the parliament as an independent deputy of Konya. The aim of the study is to state the developments during Erbakan’s presidency of the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges along with the reasons. This study also contains a study of the oral history carried out with the important people of the True Path Party and Justice Party

TOBB- SİYASET İLİŞKİSİ AÇISINDAN ERBAKAN’IN TOBB BAŞKANLIĞI SÜRECİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Türkiye’ de merkez sağ partiler-TOBB ilişkisine baktığımızda, Demokrat Parti ve Adalet Partisi’nin Odalar Birliği’ne hakim oldukları görülmektedir. Adalet Partisi’nin tek başına iktidara geldiği 1965 yılından, Mehmet Yazar’ın TOBB Başkanlığı’na (27 Mayıs 1979) kadar geçen zaman zarfında, sadece Erbakan’ın Odalar Birliği Genel Başkanlığı dışında, TOBB yönetim kurulu listesi AP yönetimince belirlenmiştir. Hükümetin, Odalar Birliği’ndeki seçimleri erteletme kararına rağmen, 24 Mayıs 1969 günü Odalar Birliği Genel Kurulu’nda seçim yapıldı. Yapılan seçimde Odalar Birliği Genel Başkanlığı’na Necmettin Erbakan seçildi. Hükümet, Erbakan’ın seçilmesinden sonra, Odalar Birliği’nin emrinde olan bazı kota kullanma yetkilerini, Odalar Birliği’nin elinden aldı. Erbakan, Odalar Birliği’nden Ankara Valiliği’nin emriyle polis gözetiminde uzaklaştırıldı. 12 Ekim 1969 seçimleri için AP’ den adaylığı kabul edilmeyen Erbakan, Konya bağımsız milletvekili olarak Meclis’e girdi. Çalışmanın amacı, Erbakan’ın Odalar Birliği Başkanlığı sürecinde yaşanan gelişmeleri, nedenleriyle ortaya koymaktadır. Çalışmada, AP ve DYP’nin önemli isimleriyle yapılan sözlü tarih çalışmasına da yer verildi.
