THE REALITY OF SPACE AND URBAN EMBODIMENT

Abstract

This paper that gives priority to opening the space “Taksim Meydanı” up to working class in May Day 2010 and that national newspapers put this issue on their agendas as regards different phenomenon tries to define to what degree overlaps dicourse of newspapers with the reality of May Day. In this way, AG, HG and SG newspapers are determined within 33 newspaper by multi-stage sampling techniques. Qualitative research methods, such as documentary research, critical discourse analysis, and content analysis are applied, after coding variables and categorising the codes. One of the findings of this paper is that the effort of HG in setting real agenda in relaiton to working class in May Day 2010, apart from two other. This means SG and AG considers form and visiuality, while HG considers quality, idea, and content of the news (message).
