AN ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-ECONOMIC FACTORS EFFECTING THE USE OF NATURAL GAS: AN EXAMPLE OF ISPARTA CITY

Abstract

In this study, natural gas which is one of the most active and strategic energy instruments of sector has been examined. The aim of this study is to identify the factors that affect the consumers’ use of natural gas with the historical development of natural gas in the world and Turkey. The analysis of the main socio-economic factors that influence the use of natural gas preferences of households living in the province of Isparta has been intended. For this purpose, Logit models were used and the model was estimated with using the data, obtained from household survey. In the results of analysis, average monthly consumption expenditure and consumption of natural gas was determined as 1464,807 TL and 86,117 TL, respectively. It is determined that families using natural gas save 23, 83% from their annual heating expenditures compared with households using coal. In reference to the analysis of survey results, main reasons of preferring its usage are easier, cheaper, safer and less harmful for the environment than other fuel types. According to the survey results, the income level increases, use of natural gas in widespread increases. The explanatory variables income groups, living area of the house, age of building and detached houses or apartment buildings included in the logit were found statistically significant. DOĞALGAZ KULLANIMINI ETKİLEYEN SOSYO-EKONOMİK FAKTÖRLERİN ANALİZİ: ISPARTA İLİ ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, enerji sektörünün en aktif ve stratejik enstrümanlarından biri olan doğalgazın, dünyadaki ve Türkiye’deki tarihsel gelişimi ile birlikte tüketicilerin doğalgaz kullanımını etkileyen faktörler analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada, Isparta ilinde yaşayan ailelerin doğalgaz kullanımı tercihlerini etkileyen başlıca sosyo-ekonomik faktörlerin analizi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla, Logit modeli kullanılmış ve hanehalkları ile yapılan anketlerden elde edilen veriler kullanılarak model tahmin edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarında ailelerin aylık ortalama tüketim harcaması ve doğalgaz harcaması sırasıyla, 1464,807 TL ve 86,117 TL olarak belirlenmiştir. Doğalgaz ile ısınan ailelerin, kömür ile ısınan ailelere göre yıllık ısınma harcamalarında %23,83 tasarruf ettikleri belirlenmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, hanehalklarının doğalgazı tercih etmelerinin başlıca nedenleri önem sırasına göre, doğalgazın diğer yakıt çeşitlerine göre kullanımının daha kolay olması, doğalgazın diğer yakıt çeşitlerine göre çevreye daha az zarar vermesi, doğalgazın diğer yakıt çeşitlerine göre daha güvenli ve ucuz olmasıdır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, gelir seviyesi arttıkça doğalgaz kullanımı yaygınlaşmaktadır. Model tahmin sonuçlarına göre, açıklayıcı değişkenlerden gelir grupları, oturulan konutun alanı, bina yaşı ve evlerin müstakil ya da apartman oluşu ile doğalgaz kullanımını arasında ters yönlü ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur.
