STUDY OF ART EDUCATION PRINCIPLES OF VISUAL ARTS CURRICULUM IN THE SECOND LEVEL OF PRIMARY EDUCATION

Abstract

The aim of this study is to define applicability of principles conducting “Visual Arts Curriculum” in the second level of primary education by making use of teachers’ views, and to present suggestions for the development of the curriculum. In the study, the researcher used the teachers’ ideas as well as content analysis. In terms of the education principles, the curriculum contains the ideal principles of Art Education. However, some reasons, such as crowded classes, insufficient class hours and lack of workshops in the schools and negative attitudes towards the subject, prevent the effectiveness of the curriculum. Main suggestions are to liberate the subject from the pressure of centrally administered examinations, increase the number class hours and organise pre-service and in-service training to provide consciousness of teachers towards the importance of art education.

İLKÖĞRETİM İKİNCİ KADEME GÖRSEL SANATLAR DERSİ PROGRAMININ SANAT EĞİTİMİ İLKELERİNİN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı; ilköğretim ikinci kademe “Görsel Sanatlar Dersi Programı”na yön veren ilkelerin ne ölçüde uygulanabildiğini öğretmen görüşlerinden de yararlanılarak belirlemek ve programın geliştirilmesine yönelik önerilerde bulunmaktır. Araştırmada içerik çözümlemesinin yanı sıra öğretmen görüşlerinden de yararlanılmıştır. Program öğretim ilkeleri bakımından ideali yansıtmaktadır. Ancak sınıf mevcutlarının kalabalık ve haftalık ders saatinin yetersiz olması, okullarda bu derse ait atölyelerin bulunmaması derse yönelik olumsuz tutum gibi nedenler programın etkililiğini engellemektedir. Başlıca öneriler; dersin merkezi sınavların baskısından kurtarılması, haftalık saatinin artırılması, öğretmenlere sanat eğitiminin önemi konusunda duyarlık kazandıracak hizmet öncesi ve hizmet içi eğitim verilmesidir
