Importance of the Geographical Indications and Geographical Indications of Vize (Kırklareli)

Abstract

Application of geographical indication is the protection of a local product or value within the law. Actually the application had been applying along the hundreds of years; nevertheless it was shaped lastly in 1995. Also, the importance of the application is to preserve the local values -which are determined in specific criteria- for future generations and to introduce it to international market. At least one feature of the value or product must be specific from a definite geography, it is fundamental for determination. Thus, with this application is possible to protect the national values as well as to gain culturally also economically. Turkey has a deep history and so has important richness of geographical indications; 155 national value is qualified as geographical indication, also filed an application for 224 in 2012. The target of this research is “What can be done about the potential geographically indications of Vize (Kırklareli)” and investigation of their possible returns for area.

Coğrafi İşaretlerin Önemi ve Vize (Kırklareli)’nin Coğrafi İşaretleri

Abstract

Coğrafi işaret uygulaması kısaca yerel bir ürünün veya değerin belirli yasalar çerçevesinde koruma altına alınması şeklinde değerlendirilebilir. Bununla beraber bugünkü şeklini 1995 yılında almış olmasına karşın geçmişi yüzlerce yıl öncesine uzanan bir uygulama olup belirli kriterlere göre ele alınan değerleri gelecek nesillere en az bozulmayla aktarıp söz konusu değerlerin uluslararası piyasalara tanıtılmasında önemli bir uygulamadır. Tespit edilen değerlerin en az bir özelliği ile sınırları belli bir coğrafyadan kaynağını alması uygulamanın temelini teşkil etmektedir. Bu şekliyle ülkelerin milli değerleri koruma altına alınmış olduğu gibi hem iktisadi hayata hem de kültür hayatına ciddi kazanımlar sağlanmaktadır. Köklü geçmişiyle Türkiye’de coğrafi işaret açısından oldukça zengin bir ülke olup sayıları binlerle ifade edilmektedir. Fakat 2012 yılı itibariyle toplam 155 ulusal değerimiz coğrafi işaret kapsamına alınmış 224 tanesinin de müracaatı yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmamızda söz konusu uygulama kapsamında genelde Kırklareli özelde ise Vize ölçeğinde potansiyel coğrafi işaretler üzerinde durularak nelerin yapılması gerektiği ve bunun bölgeye sağlayacağı kazanımlar üzerinde durulmuştur.
