Examining Tales Compiled by Oğuz Tansel Regarding Turkish Vocabulary Use

Abstract

When teaching language arts, using texts that are appropriate to children’s cognitive and emotional levels and rich in terms of using variety of vocabulary is very important. In this context, tales are important sources and investigating compiled texts whether they reflect the richness of Turkish vocabulary is a necessity. Through this specified necessity, the purpose of this study is to examine and evaluate tales compiled for children by Oğuz Tansel in terms how they reflect the use of Turkish vocabulary. The study was carried out by descriptive qualitative research approach. The data source of this study is all the tales (n=41) in six storybooks written by compiling by Tansel. Data was collected by "document analysis", which is one of the qualitative research methods; it was analyzed descriptively. It was seen that Tansel frequently gave a place to idioms, proverbs, handiadyoins and formulaic expressions. Tansel also applied to descriptions and rhetorics in his expression, he managed to call to senses and emotions of the reader in tales which he wrote by compiling.

Oğuz Tansel’in Derlediği Masalların Türkçenin Sözvarlığı Bağlamında İncelenmesi

Abstract

Dil ve edebiyat öğretimi ortamlarında çocuğa görelik ilkesine uygun ve Türkçenin sözvarlığı bakımından zengin metinlerin kullanılması çok önemlidir. Bu bağlamda masallar önemli kaynaklardır ve derlenmiş masalların Türkçenin sözvarlığını yansıtma başarısı bakımından incelenmesi bir zorunluluktur. Bu zorunluluk gereği çalışmanın amacı, Tansel’in derleyip yazdığı masalları Türkçenin sözvarlığı bağlamında incelemek ve değerlendirmektir. Çalışma, betimsel nitel araştırma yaklaşımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın veri kaynağı, Tansel’in derleyip yazdığı altı masal kitabındaki masalların tamamıdır (n=41). Veriler, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden “doküman incelemesi” yoluyla toplanmış; betimsel olarak çözümlenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın sonucunda Tansel’in derlediği masallarda, sözvarlığı öğelerinden deyimlere, atasözlerine, ikilemelere ve kalıp sözlere sık sık yer verdiği görülmüştür. Tansel ayrıca, anlatımında betimlemelere ve çeşitli söz sanatlarına da başvurmuş, derleyip yazdığı masallarla okurun duyularına ve duygularına seslenmeyi başarmıştır.
