A Study On The Determination Of How Local People Perceive Tourism Activities In Kayseri

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine how local people perceive the economic, socio-cultural and environmental effects of the tourism in Kayseri and to define the level of support provided for tourism activities by local people. As sampling technique, convenience sampling which is one of the non-probability sampling techniques was preffered. Within this scope, the sample was consisted of people residing in the different parts of city center and the survey was carried out with 600 people. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the perception of tourism is more negative for women than for men and that as the level of education increases, the support given to the tourism sector increases proportionally. Besides, it was concluded that local people in Kayseri find the development of tourism favourable and support it in accordance. Finally, it has been concluded that perception of economic, socio-cultural and environmental impact of the tourism sector is generally positive.

Kayseri Örneğinde Yerel Halkın Turizm Faaliyetlerini Nasıl Algıladığının Tespitine Yönelik Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, turizmin Kayseri iline olan ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel etkilerinin yerel halk tarafından nasıl algılandığını tespit etmek ve turizm faaliyetlerine yönelik verdikleri destek düzeyini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Çalışmada örneklem yöntemi olarak, olasılığa dayalı olmayan örnekleme yöntemlerinden kolayda örnekleme yöntemi tercih edilmiştir. Bu kapsamda örneklem, ana kütleyi oluşturan şehir merkezinin farklı kesimlerinden belirlenmiş ve 600 kişi ile bir anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan analizler sonucunda, bayanların erkeklere oranla turizm algısının daha olumsuz olduğu ve eğitim düzeyi yükseldikçe turizm sektörüne verilen desteğin orantılı olarak arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, Kayseri’de yerel halkın turizm sektörünün gelişmesine olumlu yaklaştıkları ve bu bağlamda sektörün gelişimini destekledikleri belirlenmiştir. Son olarak, turizm sektörünün ekonomik, sosyo-kültürel ve çevresel etkilerine yönelik mevcut algının genelde olumlu olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
