THE MEDIATING ROLE OF PERCEIVED ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEAN LEADERSHIP AND WORK-FAMILY CONFLICT: A PUBLİC HOSPİTAL EXAMPLE

Abstract

Due to the global competition, the private sector initiatives has become much more important, and in this process, the leadership and management models came to the front especially in health sector. Because, hospitals, which are health enterprises, especially have some basic features that distinguish them from other service or production enterprises. The most important of these basic features is that the output in this sector is human. It is important in the health sector to investigate the leadership practices in hospitals, the work-family conflict levels of the employees, and the practices of the hospital enterprises. In this context, the aim of the study is to examine the effect of lean leadership behavior on work-family conflict via the mediator role of perceived organizational support. The sample of this research consists of 323 health workers in a public hospital operating in Kayseri region. The results indicate that lean leadership negatively affected work to family conflict, but lean leadership did not significantly affect family to work conflict. It was also concluded that perceived organizational support has a partial mediating role on the relationship between lean leadership and work-family conflict.

YALIN LİDERLİĞİN İŞ – AİLE ÇATIŞMASINA ETKİSİNDE ALGILANAN ÖRGÜTSEL DESTEĞİN ARACI ROLÜ: KAYSERİ’ DE BİR KAMU HASTANESİ ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract

Küresel rekabetin artmasına paralel bir şekilde özel sektör girişimlerinin de artması, beraberinde sağlık hizmet sunucusu konumunda olan hastanelerin de yönetim ve liderlik modellerinin daha da önem kazanmasına neden olmuştur. Sağlık işletmeleri olan hastaneleri diğer hizmet veya üretim işletmelerinden ayıran bazı temel özellikleri bulunmaktadır. Bu temel özelliklerden en önemlisi sundukları hizmetin insan hayatı için belirleyici önem taşımasıdır. Hastanelerdeki liderlik uygulamaları ve çalışanların iş-aile çatışma düzeyleri ile bu süreçte hastane işletmelerinin ne yönde uygulamalarının olduğunun araştırılması sağlık sektöründe önemlidir. Bu kapsamda çalışmanın amacı, algılanan örgütsel destek aracı rolde iken yalın liderliğin iş aile çatışması üzerindeki etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, Kayseri’ de faaliyet gösteren bir kamu hastanesindeki 323 sağlık çalışanı oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma sonuçları, yalın liderliğin işten aileye olan iş-aile çatışmasını negatif yönde etkilediği, ancak yalın liderliğin aileden işe olan iş-aile çatışmasını anlamlı düzeyde etkilemediği; algılanan örgütsel desteğin ise yalın liderlik ve iş-aile çatışması arasındaki ilişkide kısmi aracı role sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
