BCG Aşısı

Abstract

BCG aşısı Paris’de Institut Pasteur’da Calmette ve Guerin tarafından M. bovis suflunun sığır safra mediumunda, 1908’de başlayıp 231 kez pasajlanması ile atenüe hale getirilmesi sonucu geliştirilmiştir. Laboratuar hayvanlarına injekte edildiğinde virulan M. tuberculosis ile karşılaşma halinde direncin arttığı gösterilmifltir. 1921 yılında ilk kez bir yenidoğana uygulanmış ve o zamandan beri 4 milyardan fazla kişiye BCG aşısı yapılmıştır 1 .
