Submission
Manuscripts submitted to Perceptions must be original contributions. If the manuscript, or any substantially similar version of it, is under review by another journal, has been published elsewhere, or is intended for publication elsewhere, authors must clearly disclose this at the time of submission.
All manuscripts must be submitted through the DergiPark platform.
The Copyright and Declaration Form must be completed and signed by all authors and uploaded to DergiPark together with the manuscript.
Evaluation Process
1. Editorial Review: Following submission, the editors conduct an initial review of the manuscript to assess its suitability for the journal in terms of language, format, and scope. The editorial review stage is expected to be completed within approximately one month.
2. Reviewer Selection: Manuscripts that pass the editorial review stage are sent to at least two independent reviewers. Reviewers are selected from among scholars with expertise in the relevant field of the manuscript. The identities of the reviewers are kept confidential, and the journal operates a double-blind peer-review system. Book reviews, however, are evaluated by the editors.
3. Manuscript Submission: Authors initially submit their manuscripts to the journal through the DergiPark system. Authors are expected to prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the journal's formatting and submission guidelines.
4. Peer Review: Reviewers subject submitted manuscripts to a thorough evaluation, focusing on their methodology, findings, sources, and overall scholarly quality. Reviewers provide their assessments of the manuscript and make recommendations to the editorial board regarding acceptance, rejection, or revision. The peer-review process is expected to be completed within approximately one month.
5. Author Revision: The reviewers' evaluations are communicated to the authors by the editors. Authors may revise their manuscripts in light of the reviewers' recommendations. Revisions are expected to be completed within approximately two weeks.
6. Editorial Decision and Publication: Following the completion of revisions, the manuscript undergoes a further editorial review. The editors review the final version of the manuscript and make the final decision regarding its publication. Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication in the journal's forthcoming issues.
Types of Manuscripts
Perceptions publishes three types of manuscripts:
- Commentaries should be approximately 3,000–4,000 words, including endnotes, and address topical issues of interest to the journal's readership. They should present a concise and thought-provoking argument with clear policy relevance.
- Research Articles should be approximately 6,000–8,000 words, including endnotes, and present a comprehensive discussion and analysis of original research in the field of international relations.
Book Reviews should be approximately 1,000–1,500 words and critically evaluate the main strengths and weaknesses of a recent book in the field of international relations.
Manuscript Preparation
All manuscripts should include an indented and italicized abstract of approximately 200–250 words outlining the main argument and conclusions, as well as 5–6 keywords identifying the main themes of the manuscript.
The names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID iDs of all authors should be provided on a separate Cover Page, which must be uploaded together with the manuscript. This information should not appear anywhere in the anonymized manuscript submitted for peer review.
Manuscripts should be single-spaced and written in 12-point Times New Roman throughout. The text should be fully justified, with margins of 2,5 cm on all sides. Pages should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript. Only the first letters of the words in titles and headings should be capitalized.
Quotations should be enclosed in double quotation marks (“…”). Quotations longer than four lines should be indented from the left margin and single-spaced.
All manuscripts should use endnotes and should not include a separate bibliography. U.S. English spelling and punctuation should be used throughout. Dates should follow the following formats: November 3, 1996; 1995–1998; and the 1990s.
All diagrams, charts, and graphs should be referred to as figures and numbered consecutively. Tables should be kept to a minimum and should contain only essential data. Each figure and table should be assigned an Arabic numeral and a title and should be referred to in the text. The appropriate placement of tables should be indicated in the manuscript, and tables should be submitted in a separate file.
If copyrighted material is reproduced in a manuscript, it is the author's responsibility to obtain the necessary permission from the copyright holder.
Authors' names, place names, and the names of publishing houses should be given in their original forms. References in the endnotes should conform to the following examples:
Books

In endnotes ‘ibid.’ should be used where possible, but it should not be used where the previous note contains more than one source.
