The Evaluation of Oxman's Design Case Libraries Through the Potentials of Deep Dream

Year 2023, Volume: 7 Issue: 2, 142 - 152, 01.09.2023

Abstract

The aim of the study is to present an approach to how Oxman’s design-based case libraries can be developed through the evaluation of the potential of the Deep Dream algorithm. As the met- hod of the study, the literature review is used and the scope of the study is to evaluate the works of prominent figures and to discuss how design-based case libraries that will use deep learning methods can be carried into the near future. The “subject” and “theme” elements, which are con- sidered as the input layer, are exposed to hybrid intersections through implicit layers and new “form” outputs are obtained. As the findings of the study, while it is expected to obtain a result related to the directly searched and scanned item in the traditional librarianship understanding, a network of relations is reached in the contemporary librarianship approach, which is provided by the hybridization of the “subject” and “theme” elements through implicit layers, by repeatedly matching them with the most relevant elements. This web of relationships can be embodied in an output repository that contains intricate data about how items look and how they are represen- ted. As a result, it seems that collecting conceptual information related to designs and making the associated work ecosystem responsive to the character of design thinking should be the main goal of contemporary design-based case libraries. Strategies to design a support mechanism for libraries of design ideas and to gain a place among the paradigms that assist design will also be the most important supporters of this goal.

Deep Dream’in Potansiyelleri Üzerinden Oxman’ın Tasarım Tabanlı Vaka Kütüphanelerinin Okunması

Year 2023, Volume: 7 Issue: 2, 142 - 152, 01.09.2023
