THE IMPORTANCE OF PEER EDUCATION IN CHRONIC PANCREATITIS CASE

Year 2020, Volume: 8 Issue: 1, 19 - 21, 30.04.2020

Abstract

We investigated the effect of peer education on the course of the disease in a 16-year-old male patient with chronic pancreatitis. It was determined that the patient applied to the emergency service four times a year before participating in peer education groups. The family was informed that the patient experienced a decrease in social isolation and academic success. The patient, who was followed up for two years with chronic pancreatitis, participated in the two-hour peer education group four times with one-month intervals. We saw that our patient, who participated in peer education groups, had a reduced number of attacks, and that his social relationships and academic status were positively affected by accepting his illness.

KRONİK PANKREATİT OLGUSUNDA AKRAN EĞİTİMİNİN ÖNEMİ

Year 2020, Volume: 8 Issue: 1, 19 - 21, 30.04.2020

Abstract

Kronik pankreatit tanılı 16 yaşında erkek hastada yapılan akran eğitimlerinin hastalığının seyrine etkisini araştırdık. Akran eğitimi gruplarına katılmadan önce hastanın yılda dört kez acil servise başvurduğu saptanmıştır. Ailesinden, hastada sosyal izolasyon ve akademik başarıda düşme yaşadığı bilgisi alınmıştır. İki yıldır kronik pankreatit tanısı ile izlenen hastanın birer ay ara ile dört kez iki saatlik akran eğitimi grubuna katılımı sağlanmıştır. Akran eğitimi gruplarına katılım sağlayan hastamızın, atak sayılarında azalma olduğunu, hastalığını kabullenerek sosyal ilişkilerinin ve akademik durumunun olumlu yönde etkilendiğini gördük.
