In this study, the conservation and restoration works, carried out on the pulpit door wings of the Hanafis
section of the Great Mosque (Ulu Cami), which has a value as the complex as, were explained.
The analysis is indicated that the pulpit door wings are composed by walnut, black poplar and linden woods,
and, their surfaces were painted many times. These inappropriate types of paint layers were cleaned layer by
layer by using methylene chloride based paint remover, and the original inlaid decorations were evaluated.
After this cleaning application, the missed parts of the door wings were completed by implanting the same
kind of wood. The iron materials of the door wings, as nails, reinforcing bands etc, were mechanically
cleaned and covered by zinc based antirusting base and paint. As the results of this work, it is ensured that
the original states of the pulpit doors are exhibited in a healthy condition.
