Incidents of the implementations improper to the authenticity of the traditional timber buildings can be seen both in the project and restoration phases. In this context; KUDEB* under Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has conducted a sample project based on “the authenticity” including the whole methodology from documentation to implementation. The studies have been carried out according to the national and international conservation criteria. The projects of the building located on Kayserili Ahmet Pasha Street in Suleymaniye were prepared by the project team and the building materials were analysed by the Restoration & Conservation Laboratories in KUDEB. The restoration implementations of the project were proceeded by the craftsmen and the trainees of the Timber Training Workshop. The original building materials and traditional construction techniques were used in the project under the criteria of “authenticity” and “sustainability”. In spite of the fact that the building was heavily ruined, original details were preserved in situ as much as possible and the missing parts were completed by the offered materials suited with the original ones. During the implementation process, firstly the improper additions were removed, then the structure was propped up and repaired partially in care. The building is assigned for KUDEB units after the restoration
