CONSERVATION AT THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES

Abstract

Purpose of this article is to identify the mechanisms of deterioration of wall paintings and mosaics at the archaeological sites with relation to their environment. General factors and measures that need to be taken are reviewed. Therefore a general assessment is made through positive and negative results obtained from the conservation interventions done at the archaeological sites. New approaches and practices for the conservation of wall paintings and mosaics are also briefly discussed
