Time And Space Spirals In The Erasers Of Alain Robbe-Grillet
Abstract
Alain Robbe-Grillet rose against to the classic novel with his first novel The Erasers published in 1953. Known as the forerunner of the New Novel, he aimed to deconstruct the realities of the classics; he put away the dogmatic thoughts of the literature and marked a new era in the literary world. He found no sense in studying the case in the story but the objects and their descriptions. The way he used the time and space concepts was also different, he intended to trouble the linear structure of the story, not to decorate it as we find in the traditional novel. The purpose of this article is to show the new form of the novel by exploring the spiral structures of the time and space concepts used by Alain Robbe-Grillet, in his novel called The Erasers.
