Deprem bölgesine giden sağlık çalışanlarının merhamet yorgunluğu, stres ve psikolojik sağlamlık düzeyleri

Öz

Giriş ve Amaç: Sağlık çalışanları deprem sonrasında bireylerin tedavi ve bakımında önemli rol oynamaktadır. Bu çalışmada amaç 6 Şubat 2023 depreminden sonra deprem bölgesine geçici görevle giden sağlık çalışanlarının merhamet yorgunluğu, algılanan stres ve psikolojik sağlamlık düzeylerinin saptanmasıdır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel tipteki bu çalışmaya Türkiye'nin batı bölgesindeki bir eğitim araştırma hastanesinden deprem bölgesine geçici görevle giden 160 sağlık çalışanı dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmada veriler Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Merhamet Yorgunluğu Ölçeği, Algılanan Stres Ölçeği ve Kısa Psikolojik Sağlamlık Ölçeği ile toplanmıştır.
Bulgular: Sağlık çalışanlarının yaş ortalamalarının 32,87±7,89 yıl, %57,8'inin kadın ve %28,1’inin hekim olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda katılımcıların Merhamet Yorgunluğu Ölçeği alt boyut ve toplam puanlarının ortalamanın altında, Kısa Psikolojik Sağlamlık Ölçeği puanının ortalamanın üzerinde ve Algılanan Stres Ölçeği alt boyut ve toplam puanlarının ortalama düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca merhamet yorgunluğu arttıkça, algılanan stresin arttığı ve psikolojik sağlamlığın azaldığı, psikolojik sağlamlık düzeyi arttıkça algılanan stresin de azaldığı belirlenmiştir (p<0,05).
Sonuç: Sağlık çalışanlarına yönelik psikososyal müdahalelerin uygulanması, etkin başa çıkma yöntemlerinin geliştirilmesi, sosyal destek ve dayanışmanın artırılması önerilmektedir.

Compassion fatigue, stress, and psychological resilience levels of healthcare workers deployed to the earthquake zone

Introduction and Aim: Healthcare workers play a crtical role in treating and caring for people after an earthquake. The aim of this study is to determine the compassion fatigue, perceived stress and psychological resilience of healthcare workers temporarily deployed in the earthquake zone after the February 6, 2023 earthquake.
Materials and Methods: The descriptive cross-sectional study involved 160 healthcare workers who were temporarily assigned to the earthquake zone in a training and research hospital in the western of Turkey. The research data were collected using a personal information form, the Compassion Fatigue Scale, the Perceived Stress Scale and the Brief Resilience Scale.
Results: The average age of healthcare workers was found to be 32.87 ± 7.89 years, with 57.8% being female and 28.1% being physicians. As a result of the study, it was found that the participants' partial and total scores on the Compassion Fatigue Scale were below average, the score on the Brief Resilience Scale was above average and the partial and total scores on the Perceived Stress Scale were at an average level. It was determined that as compassion fatigue increased, perceived stress increased and psychological resilience decreased. It was also noticed that as psychological resilience increased, perceived stress decreased (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Psychosocial interventions for healthcare workers, the development of effective coping methods and the strengthening of social support and solidarity are recommended.
