EFFECT ON POSTURE CHANGES ON THE INTRAOCULAR PRESSURE

Abstract

Purpose: Examination of the effects of changes in body posture on intraocular pressure

Material-Method: 67 male, 83 female, 150 patients planned for intravitreal injection were evaluated in 150 eyes. Intraocular pressures were measured with contact hand tonometry when the patients were standing, sitting, and lying in the supine position. Patients who had glaucoma, who had an eye surgery, who had a history of ocular drug use, and were unable to provide the relevant body posture were excluded from the study

Results:The mean age of the patients was 66.03 ± 8.36 years.
Intraocular pressures were 17.48 ± 3.38 mmHg in standing, 17.24 ± 3.47 mmHg in sitting,19.86±4.55 mmHg in supine position.
There was no statistically difference between standing and sitting intraocular pressure (p = 0.103) Supine values ​​were significantly higher than both the standing value and the sitting score (p values ​​0.001)

Conclusion: The intraocular pressures were significantly higher in the supine position than in the standing position and the sitting position.

Abstract

Amaç: Vücut postüründeki değişikliklerin göziçi basıncına etkisinin incelenmesi

Gereç-Yöntem: İntravitreal enjeksiyon planlanan 67 erkek,83 kadın 150 hastanın 150 gözü değerlendirmeye alındı.Hastaların ayaktayken(AGİB),otururken(OGİB) ve sırtüstü yatar pozisyondayken(SGİB) kontakt el tonometresi ile göziçi basınçları ölçüldü.Glokomu olan,göziçi cerrahisi geçiren,oküler ilaç kullanım hikayesi olan ve ilgili vücut postürünü sağlayamayan hastalar çalışma dışı bırakıldı.

Sonuçlar: Hastaların yaş ortalaması 66.03±8.36 yıldı.Göziçi basınçları ayaktayken 17.48±3.38 mmHg,otururken 17.24± 3.47 mmHg,sırtüstü yatar pozisyondayken 19.86±4.55 mmHg bulundu.AGİB ile OGİB arasında istatistiksel farklılık yoktu.(p=0.103) SGİB değerleri hem AGİB değerinden hem de OGİB değerinden anlamlı derecede yüksekti.(p değerleri 0.001)

Tartışma: Sırtüstü yatar pozisyondayken göziçi basınçları hem ayaktayken ve hem de oturur pozisyona göre anlamlı derecede yüksek bulunmuştur.
