THE DETERMINATION OF THE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS’ ATTITUDES AND VIEWS TOWARDS ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES: SAMPLE OF BURDUR PROVINCE

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine science and technology, and primary school teacher’s attitudes and views towards environmental issues and to analyze significant differences of these attitudes in terms of samples demographic characteristics. Data for the study were collected from o sample of 210 teachers from the schools around Burdur City Centre in 2008-2009 academic years. In this research, “Personal Information and Opinion Form” and “Attitudes towards environmental issues” were used. In statistical data analysis, ANOVA and t-Test were used. Results of the study, it determined that, teacher’s attitudes towards environmental issues scores were high level. Attitudes scores of participants of this study; according to gender, experience levels, branches, membership of an environmental institutes and to participate in school and outside school projects do not differientiate for significant level. Furthermore, most of the teachers stated that, most important environmental issues of the world, Turkey and Burdur was misutilization of natural resources; television and radio were the most contributing instruments to environmental consciousness; weren’t inform any complaint about environment to any public services and consciousness of society in terms of environment was not enough, consciousness of teachers was good.

FEN VE TEKNOLOJİ İLE SINIF ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN ÇEVRE SORUNLARINA YÖNELİK TUTUM VE GÖRÜŞLERİNİN BELİRLENMESİ: BURDUR İLİ ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı; Fen ve Teknoloji ile Sınıf Öğretmenlerinin çevre sorunlarına yönelik tutum ve görüşlerini belirlemek ve bu tutumların öğretmenlerin demografik özelliklerine göre anlamlı düzeyde farklık gösterip göstermediğini araştırmaktır. Araştırma 2008-2009 eğitim-öğretim yılında Burdur ili Merkez İlköğretim Okullarında görev yapan 210 öğretmenle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak “Kişisel Bilgi ve Görüş Formu” ve “Çevre Sorunlarına Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel veri analizinde, ANOVA ve t-testi yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda öğretmenlerin çevre sorunlarına yönelik tutum puanlarının yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğretmenlerin tutum puanlarının; cinsiyete, deneyim süresine, branşlara, çevre kuruluşuna üyelik ve çevre ile ilgili proje çalışmalarına katılma durumlarına göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde bir farklılık göstermediği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğretmenlerin çoğu Dünya’nın, Türkiye’nin ve Burdur’un en önemli çevre sorununun doğal kaynakların kullanımı olduğunu, çevre konusunda bilinçlenmeye en çok katkıda bulunan aracın tv ve radyolar olduğunu, çevre ile ilgili şikâyetleri herhangi bir kuruma bildirmediklerini, çevre duyarlılığı konusunda; toplumun yetersiz, öğrencilerinin orta, kendilerinin iyi düzeyde olduğunu düşündüklerini belirtmişlerdir.
