Abstract

This article aims to explore the views of Husain al-Jisr who was an important figure ofhis time on universe, creation, evolution and first matter (heyula). Since this scholar isnot very well known in Turkey, firstly a brief account of his life and his works will begiven. In the second part, his viwes on creation, especially the impact of modernsciense on his thought will be examined. In addition, views of Müslim theologans andphilosophers regarding this issue will be presented in order to make the subjectaccessible.
