Geçmişten Günümüze Seramik Sanatında "Baykuş" Figürü

Abstract

İnsanoğlunun varoluşundan günümüze kadar neredeyse her kültürde “baykuş” figürüne rastlamak mümkündür. Belki de paradoks ve gizin; yaşam ve ölümün, dinlenmenin, dişiliğin, karanlığın ve bilinmeyenin öğretmeni olduğu için “baykuş” figürü tarihsel süreçten günümüze kadar seramik alanında da çokça kullanılmıştır. Geçmişte baykuş figürü insanoğlunun yaşamında, bazen ana tanrıça formuna dönüşmüş, bazen de kullanım eşyası olarak yer almıştır. Baykuş, kimi kültürlerde sanatın ve bilgeliğin sembolü sayılırken, kimi kültürlerde de kötülüğün simgesi haline gelmiştir. Fakat geçmişten günümüze zanaatkâr ve sanatçıların baykuşlara olan ilgisi hiç azalmamıştır. Bu araştırma, insan-baykuş ilişkisine malzemesi kil olan seramik sanatı aracılığı ile yaklaşmayı amaçlamış ve bu doğrultuda sanat ve baykuş hakkında geçmiş uygarlıklardan günümüze kadar olan süreç incelenmiştir. Çalışma; müzelerde, özel koleksiyonlarda bulunan baykuş figürünün konu edildiği; seramik tabak, heykel, form, tablet vb. ürünleri içermekte, geçmişte ve günümüzde seramik sanatçılarının üretmiş ve üretmekte olduğu seçilmiş seramik eserleri kapsamaktadır.

From Past to Present the "Owl" Figure in Ceramic Art

Abstract

From the existence of human being to the present day, it’s possible to come across “owl” figure
almost in every culture. From past to present, in the historical period “owl” figure has been used in
ceramic field, since probably it is the teacher of paradox and mystery; life and death, relaxation,
femininity, also darkness and unknown. At past, in human life, owl figure was sometimes turned
into a goddess and sometimes into an everyday object. Owl, in certain cultures is accepted as the
symbol of art and wisdom but in others has become the sign of malignity. Though from past to pre-
sent the interest of artists and craftsmen to owls has never decreased. This research aims to focus on
the relationship between human and owl by means of ceramic art which is made up of clay and in
this direction the process of art and owl from past civilizations to present was examined. The study
includes the products such as ceramic plate, sculpture, form, panel and etc. from private collections,
museums which have owl subject matter and also contains ceramic pieces that have been produced
and still being produced by ceramic artists at past and today.
