Abstract

Kırkyama; giyim veya kullanım eşyası olarak kullanılmak
üzere küçük kumaş parçalarının dikilerek bir araya getirilmesi yöntemine denir.
Daha büyük bir kumaş yapmak için küçük kumaşların birleştirilmesi yöntemini
neredeyse her toplum farklı isimlerle kullanmıştır. Kırkyama’nın 13.yy’da
Avrupa’da günlük yaşama girmesi ile çeşitli teknik ve desenler üretilmiş, tasarım
ve görsellik ön plana çıkmıştır. Yaklaşık 5000 yıllık bir tarihe sahip olan bu
yöntem bugün başka alanlarda da kullanılmakta olup birçok sanatçıya ilham
kaynağı olmuş ve plastik sanatlarda kullanımı da oldukça yaygınlaşmıştır. Disiplinlerarası
etkileşimle seramik sanatında çeşitli biçimlerde kullanılmıştır. Bu çalışmada kırkyama
tekniğinin seramikte dekor ögesi olarak kullanımı sanatçı Zoe Hillyard  örneği ile ele alınmıştır.

The Reflection of Patchwork on the Art of Ceramics: an Example by Zoe Hillyard

Abstract

Patchwork is the method of assembling pieces of fabric by sewing to use it as clothing or daily
usage material the method of assembling small fabric pieces to make a bigger cloth has been named
by almost every society differently. With the inclusion of patchwork into Daily life in Europe in
13th century, various techniques and patterns were produced and design and visuality have come
to the foreground. This method, which has approximately 5000 years of historical background, has
been used in various fields today and has become a way of inspiration for many artists. It has also
become widespread in plastic arts. It has been used in the art of ceramics in various ways through
interdisciplinary interactions. The use of patchwork technique as an element of decoration in the
art of ceramics is going to be dealt with the example of Artist Zoe Hillyard.
