EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECTS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC PROCESS ON THE TURKISH ECONOMY

Abstract

The economic effects of Covid-19 have been reflected all over the world. Turkey, like many other countries, has been economically affected by this process, which is called the epidemic. It is an inevitable fact that the economic reflections of the epidemic, which is expected to continue for a while, will also continue. In the study, the economic effects of the Covid-19 process for the period before and after the pandemic were examined for Turkey. It is aimed to make inferences for this process by making comparisons for both periods. Numerical studies have been strengthened by the empirical analysis applied in the last section. It is aimed to examine the effects of the case situation on the Turkish economy during the Covid-19 pandemic process that has been seen in Turkey since March 2020. In this context, the data for the periods 2019: 01 and 2021: 08 were examined with two independent samples t-test and Mann-Whitney U test. As a result of the tests, it was concluded that the pandemic process is effective on basic economic indicators.

COVİD-19 PANDEMİ SÜRECİNİN TÜRKİYE EKONOMİSİNE ETKİLERİNİN AMPİRİK ANALİZİ

Abstract

Covid-19'un oluşturduğu ekonomik etkilerinin tüm dünyada yansımaları görülmüştür. Salgın olarak adlandırılan bu süreçten diğer birçok ülke gibi Türkiye de ekonomik olarak etkilenmiştir. Etkisinin bir süre daha sürmesi beklenen salgının ekonomik yansımalarının da devam edeceği kaçınılmaz bir gerçektir. Çalışmada pandemi öncesi ve sonrası dönem için Covid-19 sürecinin oluşturduğu ekonomik etkiler Türkiye için incelenmiştir. Her iki dönem için karşılaştırma yapılarak bu süreç için çıkarımda bulunulması amaçlanmıştır. Yapılan sayısal araştırmalar son bölümde uygulanan ampirik analizle güçlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada Türkiye’de Mart 2020’den bu yana görülen Covid-19 pandemi sürecinde vaka durumunun Türkiye ekonomisine etkilerinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda 2019: 01 ve 2021: 08 dönemlerine ait veriler bağımsız iki örnek t testi ve Mann-Whitney U testi ile incelenmiştir. Yapılan sınamalar neticesinde pandemi sürecinin temel ekonomik göstergeler üzerinde etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
