SAĞLIK HARCAMALARININ EKONOMİK BÜYÜME ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİLERİ: ÇİN VE GÜNEY KORE EKONOMİLERİ ÜZERİNE BİR İNCELEME

Abstract

THE EFFECTS OF HEALTH EXPENDITURES ON ECONOMIC GROWTH: A STUDY ON CHINA AND SOUTH KOREA ECONOMIES

Year 2024, , 39 - 47, 16.01.2024
https://doi.org/10.55050/sarad.1408964

Abstract

This paper examines in detail the relationship between health expenditures and economic growth in China and South Korea between 2000 and 2020, focusing particularly on the results of cointegration analysis. According to the main findings of the study, there is a significant relationship between health expenditures and economic growth in both countries. The results in China show that an increase in health expenditures reduces economic growth by 4.46%. On the other hand, this rate was determined to be 0.94% for South Korea. These findings show that health expenditures have different effects on economic growth in both countries. The negative impact of the increase in health expenditures on economic growth in China is probably related to structural differences in health systems, priorities in spending areas, and changes in economic growth strategies. On the other hand, a lower negative impact in South Korea may indicate that health expenditures are more harmoniously integrated into economic growth or used more effectively to support economic growth.
