Abstract
The importance of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN), composed of small and intelligent devices, and capable of communicating in wireless medium, is increasing recently due to their allowing the monitoring of people health in daily life. The most important factor to provide required quality of service and ensure the energy efficiency is medium access protocol. Therefore, many studies on them were conducted in the literature. Some basic studies on this topic are summarized in this study to supply review of development activities and help for future studies.

Abstract
Kablosuz ortamda haberleşen, küçük boyutlu ve zeki aygıtlardan oluşan Kablosuz Vücut Alan Ağlarının (KVAA) önemi, insanların sağlık verilerinin günlük hayatta takip edilmesine olanak sağlaması sebebiyle gün geçtikçe artmaktadır. KVAA’ların gerekli hizmet kalitesini verebilmesi ve enerji etkinliğinin sağlanması için en önemli etken ortam erişim protokolleridir. Bu sebeple, literatürde konuyla ilgili gerçekleştirilmiş birçok çalışma bulunmaktadır. Sunulan çalışmada bu konuda yapılmış bazı temel çalışmalar geliştirme faaliyetleri hakkında değerlendirme yapmak ve gelecek çalışmalara yardımcı olmak amacıyla özetlenmiştir.
