THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL MEANING of EDUCATION

Abstract

Anthropology, which requires understanding educational processes in human culture and social structure; It is a discipline that examines how people learn and transfer knowledge in cultural, social and historical contexts. In this context, educational anthropology considers the social, cultural and historical perspectives of education together. Education in this network that consists of everything that a person does and puts forward based on who he is; As a carrier of culture, it appears as an important dynamic of the system. Anthropological education is an approach that aims to provide individuals with knowledge and skills within a cultural context. This education, which we can call human-based, not only provides students with knowledge, but also focuses on understanding their role in the society they belong to and developing their own identities. As Immanuel Kant said, "a human being becomes a human being only through education." Therefore, there is a need for a diverse system designed for the human subject of education. All activities of anthropology aimed at understanding cultural diversity also help explain how education should be. As a matter of fact, anthropological education also emphasizes cultural diversity and aims to provide students with critical thinking and cultural sensitivity. Anthropological education methods generally include methods such as participant-observation, ethnographic studies, oral history, cultural analysis and group studies. These methods aim to provide students with the ability to understand and evaluate cultures in depth. Each society may have its own educational approach. Anthropology, which deals with the other, will be more productive and original when supported by studies within societies. In order to organize education, it is necessary to understand people first. Anthropology and education will be expressed more clearly together, based on the thought of Kant, who sees education and human beings as one. On the other hand, it is observed that Thodore Brameld's anthropological education model, the current curriculum changes and the integrated education model, and the motto of "raising good people" are one and the same.

EĞİTİMİN ANTROPOLOJİK ANLAMI

Öz

İnsan kültürü ve toplumsal yapıda eğitim süreçlerini anlamayı gerektiren antropoloji; insanların kültürel, sosyal ve tarihsel bağlamda nasıl öğrendiklerini, bilgiyi nasıl aktardıklarını inceleyen bir disiplindir. Eğitim antropolojisi, bu bağlamda eğitimin toplumsal, kültürel ve tarihsel perspektifini birlikte ele alır. İnsanın neliği üzerinden tüm yapıp ettikleri, ortaya koyduğu her şeyle oluşan bu ağda eğitim; kültür taşıyıcısı olarak sistemin önemli dinamiği olarak karşımıza çıkar. Antropolojik eğitim, bireylere kültürel bağlam içinde bilgi ve beceriler kazandırmayı amaçlayan bir yaklaşımdır. İnsan temelli diyebileceğimiz bu eğitim, öğrencilere sadece bilgi edindirmekle kalmaz, aynı zamanda onların ait olduğu toplum içindeki rolünü anlamalarına ve kendi kimliklerini geliştirmelerine odaklanır. Immanuel Kant’ın da dediği gibi “insan ancak eğitim yolu ile insandır.” Dolayısıyla eğitimin öznesi insana göre dizayn edilmiş çeşitlilikteki bir sisteme ihtiyaç vardır. Antropolojinin kültür çeşitliliğini anlamaya yönelik bütün faaliyetleri eğitimin nasıl olması gerektiğini de açıklamaya yardımcıdır. Nitekim, antropolojik eğitim de kültürel çeşitliliği vurgular ve öğrencilere eleştirel düşünme ve kültürel duyarlılık kazandırmayı hedefler. Antropolojik eğitim metotları genellikle katılımcı-gözlem, etnografik çalışmalar, sözlü tarih, kültürel analiz ve grup çalışmaları gibi yöntemleri içerir. Bu metotlar, öğrencilere kültürleri derinlemesine anlama ve değerlendirme yetenekleri kazandırmayı amaçlar. Her toplumun kendine özgü geliştirdiği bir eğitim yaklaşımı olabilir. Öteki ile ilgilenen antropoloji toplumların kendi içindeki çalışmalarla desteklendiğinde daha verimli ve özgün olacaktır. Eğitimi düzenleyebilmek için öncelikle insanı anlamak gereklidir. Eğitim ve insanı bir gören Kant düşüncesinden antropoloji ve eğitim birlikte daha açık ifade edilecektir. Öte yandan Thodore Brameld’in antropolojik eğitim modelinin de gündemde olan yeni müfredat değişiklikleri ve bütünleşik eğitim modeli ile “iyi insan yetiştirmek” mottosunun bir ve aynı olduğu gözlemlenmektedir.
