The aim of this study is examine the relationship between happiness and economic growth for G8 countries which are in the top ranks in the world in terms of development and have high quality of life, for the period between 2012-2018 by using panel data analysis. According to the GMM analysis, while economic growth is statistically significant, it has a negative effect. In spite of that the coefficient of per capita income is positive. This means that happiness increases as per capita income increases in G8 countries. Finally, Granger causality test has been performed to determine whether happiness and economic growth affects each other. According to the findings of Granger causality analysis, there is bidirectional causality relationship between economic growth and happiness.
