Sosyal Medya Kullanıcılarında İkincil Travmatik Stres ve Psikolojik Dayanıklılık Arasındaki İlişkide Öz-Şefkatin Aracılık Rolü

Öz

Bu çalışma, yetişkin sosyal medya kullanıcıları arasında ikincil travmatik stres, psikolojik dayanıklılık ve öz-şefkat arasındaki ilişkileri incelemeyi ve ikincil travmatik stres ile psikolojik dayanıklılık arasındaki ilişkide öz-şefkatin aracı rol oynayıp oynamadığını belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 18 yaş üstü 245’i kadın (%63) 144’ü erkek (%37) olmak üzere toplam 387 gönüllü birey oluşturmaktadır. Veriler, Sosyal Medya Kullanıcıları için İkincil Travmatik Stres Ölçeği (STSS-SM), Yetişkinler için Dayanıklılık Ölçeği ve Öz-Şefkat Ölçeği (SCS) kullanılarak çevrimiçi anket yoluyla toplanmıştır. Değişkenler arasındaki ilişkileri incelemek için Pearson korelasyon analizi, aracılık hipotezini test etmek için ise PROCESS Macro 4.3.1 kullanılarak 5000 örneklem üzerinden regresyon temelli yol analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular, öz-şefkatin ikincil travmatik stres ve psikolojik dayanıklılık arasındaki ilişkide kısmi aracı bir rol oynadığını ortaya koymuştur. Bu, öz-şefkatin, ikincil travmatik stresin psikolojik dayanıklılık üzerindeki etkisini tamamen ortadan kaldırmasa da bu etkiyi bir ölçüde azalttığı anlamına gelmektedir. Bu sonuç, öz-şefkatin, ikincil travmatik stresin olumsuz sonuçlarını hafifletmede önemli bir kişisel kaynak olduğuna işaret etmektedir.

The Mediating Role of Self-Compassion in the Relationship Between Secondary Traumatic Stress and Psychological Resilience in Social Media Users

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationships among secondary traumatic stress, psychological resilience, and self-compassion among adult social media users and to determine whether self-compassion plays a mediating role in the relationship between secondary traumatic stress and psychological resilience. The sample consisted of a total of 387 volunteers aged 18 and above, including 245 women (63%) and 144 men (37%). Data were collected through an online survey using the Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale for Social Media Users (STSS-SM), the Resilience Scale for Adults, and the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS). Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationships among the variables, and regression-based path analyses with 5,000 bootstrap samples were performed using PROCESS Macro 4.3.1 to test the mediation hypothesis. The findings revealed that self-compassion partially mediated the relationship between secondary traumatic stress and psychological resilience. This suggests that although self-compassion does not fully negate the impact of secondary traumatic stress on psychological resilience, it serves to attenuate or buffer this effect to a meaningful degree. These results highlight self-compassion as an important personal resource in mitigating the adverse effects of secondary traumatic stress.
