Tüm dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de nüfus hızla yaşlanmaktadır. Hızla yaşlanan nüfusun birçok ihtiyacı bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma İstanbul örnekleminde yerel yönetimlerdeki yaşlı hizmetlerinin ihtiyaca cevap verebilirliğini, idarecilerin yaşlı farkındalığı ile birlikte değerlendirmiştir. Nicel ve nitel araştırma yöntemlerinin bir arada kullanıldığı araştırmanın örneklemini İstanbul’un 39 ilçe belediyesinde yaşlı hizmetlerinden sorumlu müdürler, müdürlere çeşitli sebeplerle ulaşılamadığı takdirde yaşlı birim şefleri ve meslek elemanları oluşturmaktadır. Bu amaçla İstanbul’un 39 ilçe belediyesinde görev yapan yaşlı hizmetlerinden sorumlu müdürler ile yüz yüze mülakat yapılmış, veriler betimsel olarak analiz edilmiş ve bulgular tartışılmıştır.

in all over the world, the population of our country gets older rapidly.
Moreover the ging population demand more necessities. Purpose of the
research: In this
context, the aim of the study is to determine the perspectives of the
administrator (managers) in charge of aged services in 39 district
municipalities in Istanbul and to provide descriptive screening of the services
provided by the municipalities for the elderly. Materials and methods: The universe of the study, where
quantitative and qualitative research methods are used together, consists of
managers in charge of Aged Services in 39 District Municipalities of Istanbul,
aged unit chiefs and professional staffs if managers cannot be reached for different
reasons. Face to face, 39 participants were interviewed. With interview form, a descriptive analysis
was executed to determine the participants’ demographic information, elder
awareness and opinions and suggestions about the elder services. Findings:
It was concluded that elderly services in district municipalities were not
sufficient to meet the needs of elderly people, low level of awareness in the
managers responsible for elderly services was caused by this, and this issue
should be reconsidered and put into practice within the context of increasing
elderly population and legal authority-responsibilities.
