Abstract

This research aims to make an intersemiotic analysis of fire and rebirth symbols through two works of art. The symbol of fire has been given different meanings in various cultures from ancient times to the present day, and has been accepted both as a source of energy that sustains life and as an element representing the destructive forces of nature. In the research, the relationship of the fire symbol with rebirth was analysed through Gustave Moreau's ‘La Chimère’ and J.M.W. Turner's ‘The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons’, which focus on this theme. The study was carried out using logical inference, literature review and historical perspective analysis methods within the scope of qualitative research methods. The findings reveal how the creative and destructive nature of fire is intertwined with the concept of rebirth and how these symbols reflect individual and social transformation processes. The results emphasized that fire, as both a destructive and creative force, is closely related to the crisis and transformation processes in human history; showed the contributions of these symbols to the themes of change and renewal in art literature.

Gustave Moreau Ve J.M.W. Turner'ın Eserleri Üzerinden Ateş Ve Yeniden Doğuş Sembollerinin Göstergebilimsel Analizi

Abstract

Turner'ın "The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons" eserleri üzerinden analiz edilmiştir.
