Purpose: Smile plays a big role in the perception of personality. The smile design concept used in a personalized smile is the most important part of the treatment approach in aesthetic dentistry. The aim of the present study was to examine the effect of changes made on anterior tooth position and shape on the perception of personality.

Materials and Methods: In the present study, digital smile designs were made on the photographs taken from the model with Adobe Photoshop 2020 CC (California, USA) program. The questionnaire was prepared to include personality traits along with 14 smile designs. Dentists, dentistry students and laypersons were asked to rate the relationship between smile designs and personality traits under the photographs on the VAS (Visual Analog Scale) scale, in the range of 0-100. The results were analyzed with the One Way ANOVA test in IBM SPSS (Chicago, USA).

Results: When different gender groups were examined; While women gave higher scores in masculine and stressful personality designs, men gave higher scores in warm-blooded personality designs (p0.05).

Conclusion: It is thought that personality perception is perceived at different levels in different genders and dental education levels.
