Comparison of platelet functions in the evaluation of hematological parameters in pregnant

Abstract

Abstract Comparison of platelet functions in the evaluation of hematological parameters in pregnant women Introductions: This study was performed to determine which hematological parameters have a priority in diagnosing disorders of platelet function in pregnant women. Material and Method: A total of 149 subjects who admitted to Suleyman Demirel University, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, between December 2009 and February 2010 were included in the study. The study cohort was composed of 92 cases who was not commenced on any treatment with a diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia, and 57 control subjects. Gestational ages, hematological parameters and platelet functions of the case group were compared with the control group' hematological parameters and platelet functions by one way analysis. In addition, all cases who were included in our study (n:149) were analysed with'Chi-square' test for the evaluation of significance relating the state of being pregnant and hematological parameters. Results: In pregnants, there was a statisticaly significant correlation between the age and the values of PDW (p:0.039) and also between the gestational age and Plt values (p:0.019). No statistically significant differences were observed between the age and Plt, MPV, PDW levels in the control group. When the significance level between the presence of pregnancy and hemotologic parameters were examined by using 'Chi-square' test, it has been found that the pregnancy status and MPV (p:0.040) values of all cases were significantly correlated. Discussion: Our cross-sectional study, resulted with the discovery of significant differences between certain parameters that determines platelet dysfunction in the pregnant women of case group, showed us that to diagnose platelet dysfunction accurately multiple sampling should be performed. Gebelerde trombosit fonksiyonlarının değerlendirilmesinde hematolojik parametrelerin karşılaştırılması

Abstract

Özet Giriş: Bu çalışma, gebelikte görülen trombosit fonksiyon bozukluklarının erken tanısının konulmasında hematolojik parametrelerden öncelikli olanı belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Materyal Metod: Çalışmaya; Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Kadın Hastalıkları ve Doğum polikliniğine Aralık 2009-Şubat 2010 tarihleri arasında başvuran toplam 149 kişi dahil edildi. Bu grupta demir eksikliği anemisi tanısıyla tedavi almayan 92 vaka, kontrol grubu 57 birey vardı. Vaka grubunu oluşturan gebelerin; yaş, gebelik haftası ve trombosit fonksiyonlarını belirlemede kullanılan hematolojik parametreleri ile kontrol grubunu oluşturan bireylerin; yaş ve trombosit fonksiyonlarını belirlemede kullanılan hematolojik parametreleri anlamlılık açısından tek yönlü varyans analizi ile karşılaştırıldı. Ayrıca, çalışma kapsamındaki tüm olguların (n:149) gebe olma durumlarına göre, hematolojik parametrelerindeki anlamlılığın değerlendirilmesi ki-kare testi ile yapıldı. Bulgular: Gebelerde yaş ile PDW (p:0.039) ve yine gebelik haftası ile Plt (p:0.019) değerleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir bağıntı vardı. Kontrol grubundaki olguların yaş ile Plt, MPV, PDW düzeyleri arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık gözlenmedi. Ki-kare testi ile gebelik varlığının hematolojik parametrelerle anlamlılığı incelendiğinde; çalışma kapsamındaki tüm olgularda gebelik durumu ile MPV (p:0.040) değerleri arasında istatiksel anlamlılık saptandı. Tartışma: Kesitsel tek seferli yaptığımız çalışmamızda, vaka grubu gebelerde trombosit fonksiyon bozukluğunu belirleyen bazı parametrelerde anlamlı farklılığın görülmesi; trombosit fonksiyon bozukluğunun daha erken dönemde saptanabilmesi ve doğru tanının konulabilmesinde birden çok örneklem yapılması gerektiğini düşündürmektedir.
