Evaluatin of the GGT levels in Alcohol dependence and correlation with biyochemical tests and clinical features
Abstract
Aim: This study investigated the correlation between blood GGT levels and biochemical tests also sosyodemografic data who have alcohol dependence
Materials and Methods: We intestigated a retrospective way for alcohol dependence patient records in Samsun Mental Hospital. We recorded patients GGT levels and other labarotory tests and sociodemografic data. We excluded other drug abuse or dependence.
Results: The present analyses consisted of 83 participants who have alcohol dependence. All particitians were male. GGT levels were between 3-1656 U/L and mean 102.15±199.07 U/L . GGT levels were very advance correlated SGOT, SGPT, MCV (p:0.000) and significant correlation with FT3, RBC (p:0.017 ve p:0.041). With GGT and RBC have inversely proportional correlation. There were no correlation between GGT and other labarotory tests and sociodemografic datas.
Conclusion: Clinicians should be conscious of the SGOT, SGPT, MCV, FT3 and RBC levels who evaluated GGT levels in alcohol dependence patients
Key words: Alcohol, alcohol dependence, biochemistry, glucose, clinical features
