THE NANOTECHNOLOGY CONCEPT IN DENTISTRY

Abstract

The term “nanotechnology” refers to the manipulation of matter at atomic and molecular scale. The aims of nanotechnology basically are to manufacture and to analyse nanoscale structures, to investigate the physical properties of structures at nanometer level, to evolve nano-scale devices with nano-precision, and to link nanoscopic and macroscopic universes by developing appropriate methods. Nanodentistry can be described as the science and technology of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of oral and dental diseases, pain relief and improvement of dental health using nanostructured materials and enables the maintenance of oral health using nanomaterials and biotechnology comprising tissue engineering and dental nanorobots. In this review, making a brief description on nanotechnology concept and its application to dentistry has been aimed.

DİŞ HEKİMLİĞİNDE NANOTEKNOLOJİ KAVRAMI

Abstract

Nonoteknoloji kavramı, maddenin moleküler ve atomik seviyelerdeki kontrolünü ifade etmektedir. Nanoteknolojinin amaçları kısaca; nanometre ölçekli yapıların imalatı ve analizi, nanometre boyutundaki yapıların fiziksel özelliklerinin irdelenmesi, nano hassasiyetli ve ölçekli cihazların geliştirilmesi, nanoskobik ve makroskobik dünya arasında, uygun birtakım metotların geliştirilmesiyle, bağ kurulması şeklinde özetlenebilir. Nanodişhekimliği, nanoyapılı materyaller kullanılarak, ağız ve diş hastalıklarının teşhisi, tedavisi ve önlenmesi, ağrı giderme ve diş sağlığının iyileştirilmesi bilimi ve teknolojisi olarak tanımlanır ve nanomateryalleri, doku mühendisliğini içeren biyoteknolojiyi ve dental nanorobotları kullanarak kapsamlı ağız sağlığının idamesini olası kılar. Bu derlemede nanoteknoloji kavramı ve diş hekimliğinde uygulamaları konularının kısaca özetlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
