GLOKOM HASTALIK YÜKÜNÜ ETKİLEYEN FAKTÖRLER: SİSTEMATİK BİR İNCELEME

Abstract

Glokom, geri dönüşü olmayan görme kaybının önde gelen nedenlerindendir ve küresel sağlık sistemleri üzerinde ciddi bir ekonomik yük oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışma, glokoma bağlı hastalık yükünü yaş, cinsiyet, coğrafi bölge ve sosyoekonomik düzey gibi faktörler açısından sistematik olarak incelemektedir. Scopus veri tabanında 2000–2025 yılları arasında yayınlanan çalışmalar taranmış ve sonucunda 112 çalışmaya ulaşılmıştır. Dahil etme- dışlama kriterlerine göre 8 çalışma değerlendirmeye alınmıştır. Araştırma, glokom kaynaklı hastalık yükünün düşük sosyoekonomik düzeye sahip bölgelerde, ileri yaş gruplarında ve erkek bireylerde daha belirgin olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca, Sosyodemografik Endeks (SDI) ve İnsani Gelişme Endeksi (HDI) gibi göstergeler ile glokoma bağlı engelliliğe ayarlı yaşam yılları (DALYs) arasında negatif ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, glokomla etkili bir mücadele için erken tanı, sağlık hizmetlerine erişimin artırılması ve sosyoekonomik eşitsizliklerin azaltılması büyük önem taşımaktadır. Özellikle düşük gelirli bölgelerde, göz sağlığı hizmetlerinin altyapısının güçlendirilmesi, hizmete erişimdeki engellerin kaldırılması, farkındalık düzeyinin artırılması ve dezavantajlı gruplara yönelik sağlık politikalarının düzenlenmesi gerekmektedir.

FACTORS INFLUENCİNG THE BURDEN OF GLAUCOMA: A SYSTEMATİC REVİEW

Abstract

Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss and places a significant economic burden on global health systems. This study systematically examines the burden of glaucoma-related disease in terms of factors such as age, gender, geographic region and socioeconomic status. The Scopus database was searched for studies published between 2000 and 2025 and 112 studies were found. According to the inclusion-exclusion criteria, 8 studies were included. The study shows that the burden of disease caused by glaucoma is more pronounced in regions with low socioeconomic status, in older age groups and in male individuals. Indicators such as Sociodemographic Index (SDI) and Human Development Index (HDI) were negatively associated with disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) due to glaucoma. In conclusion, early diagnosis, increasing access to health services and reducing socioeconomic inequalities are of great importance for an effective fight against glaucoma. Especially in low-income regions, it is necessary to strengthen the infrastructure of eye health services, remove barriers to access to services, increase the level of awareness and organize health policies for disadvantaged groups.
