Cold Medications/Soğuk Algınlığı İlaçları

Abstract

ABSTRACT Colds, coughs, and upper respiratory infections are common childhood illnesses. Cough and cold medications are marketed widely for relief of common cold symptoms. However, minimal data exist to support their effectiveness. Studies have failed to demonstrate a benefit of these medications for young children. In addition, adverse effects and overdosage associated with the administration of cough and cold preparations in children have been reported. We explore the toxities of cold medications, and suggest why physicians should be more vigilant about these drugs. Education of patients and parents about the potential risks of these products is needed. Key words: Cold medications, pseudoephedrine, cough ÖZET Soğuk algınlığı, öksürük ve üst solunum yolu enfeksiyonları sık görülen çocukluk çağı hastalıklarıdır. Öksürük ve soğuk algınlığı ilaçları yaygın olarak soğuk algınlığı belirtilerini hafifletmek için pazarlanmaktadır. Ancak, etkinliklerini destekleyen çok az veri vardır. Küçük çocuklarda bu ilaçların bir yararını göstermek için yapılan çalışmalar başarısız olmuştur. Ayrıca, çocuklarda öksürük ve soğuk algınlığı preparatlarının yan etkileri ve doz aşımı rapor edilmiştir. Soğuk algınlığı ilaçlarının toksitelerini araştırdık ve bu ilaçlar hakkında hekimlerin neden daha fazla uyanık olmaları gerektiğini önerdik. Bu ürünlerin potensiyel riskleri hakkında hasta ve ebeveylerin de eğitimi gereklidir. Anahtar kelimeler: Soğuk algınlığı ilaçları, pseudoefedrin, öksürük
