Occurrence of Squamous Cell Carcinoma on the Lupus Vulgaris

Abstract

Occurrence of Squamous Cell Carcinoma on the Lupus VulgarisLupus vulgaris the most common skin tuberculosis that can be seen in patients with high and mediumsensitivities to Mycobacterium tuberculosis and tuberculin. Various cancers can develop on the chronic lupusvulgaris lesions, but the squamous cell cancer is the most common type. Therefore early diagnosis andtreatment of lupus vulgaris is very crucial. Herein, we present a 71 year-old male patient presenting with awound on his right cheek for almost 50 years. Biopsy specimens taken from the lesion were consistent withsquamous cell carcinoma developing over the lupus vulgaris lesion. We emphasize that patients with lupusvulgaris lesions should followed up closely due to increased risk of occurrence of cancer

Lupus Vulgaris Zemininde Gelişen Skuamöz Hücreli Karsinom Olgusu

Abstract

ÖZET Lupus vulgaris, Mycobacterium tuberculosis basiliyle karşılaşmış ve tüberkülin duyarlılığı orta ve yüksek derecede olan bireylerde ortaya çıkan, en sık görülen deri tüberkülozudur. Kronik lupus vulgaris lezyonu üzerinden en sık skuamöz hücreli karsinom olmak üzere çeşitli kanserler gelişebilmekte, bu yüzden lupus vulgarisin erken tanı ve tedavisi önem taşımaktadır. Yetmiş bir yaşında erkek hasta sağ yanakta 50 yıldır var olan yarasının üzerinde gelişen ve iyileşmeyen kabarıklık şikayetiyle polikliniğimize başvurdu. Alınan deri biyopsi örneğine lupus vulgaris zemininde gelişen skuamöz hücreli karsinoma tanısı kondu. Nadir görülmesi ve lupus vulgaris zemininde kanser gelişimine karşı yakın takibin öneminin vurgulamak istenmesi amacı ile olgu bildirilmektedir.
